Our Merchant Partners (i.e. restaurants and retail stores) are a critical part of our business - we offer them new growth opportunities through our platform, while at the same time bringing our customers a best-in-class selection. Today, our network covers over 100,000 Merchant Partners across 30 countries.
The Merchant FS team supports the financial and operational performance of Wolt's merchant domain across all our markets - from Finland to Greece and from Germany to Azerbaijan. Our scope spans monetization, commercial deals with SMB and Enterprise partners, selection growth and quality, and the workforce planning and performance management of our local Merchant teams - in essence making sure we strike the right balance in how value is shared between Wolt and our merchants. We work hand in hand with the Global Merchant team, local commercial teams, and our regional FS colleagues.
Today the team is three FS people plus the Merchant FS Director, based in our Helsinki HQ. We're looking for a colleague ideally based in Helsinki, with our Berlin office as an alternative.
Responsibilities
Run point on our commercial reviews, which split into three main tracks:
Deal Desk: own the review process for Restaurant SMB deals, where Merchant FS is responsible for managing the workflow and the call on what terms we can offer to strategic merchants. Think of this as managing a broader portfolio of smaller, more standardized deals across our markets.
Restaurant Enterprise: support the Enterprise team on deal modeling and finding the right balance across the PL on the offers we put on the table. These deals are more tailor-made and often span a single Enterprise brand across multiple markets.
Merchant Fees: translate the deal impact into our Merchant Fee plans and forecasts, so the deals we close are tied back into the PL outlook.
Partner closely with the local Marketplace leads, and engage with the Sales and Account Management teams in the central Merchant organization
Keep track of the deals we make and keep us honest about how we're actually performing in this area
Actively drive and engage in the annual and quarterly planning processes while then keeping track of development vs plan in weekly and monthly business reviews
Support and educate local teams with best practices and lessons learned from other countries - what kind of structures and terms have we used elsewhere, and which ones tend to bring the best return
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field
5+ years working close to commercial operations, with hands-on experience in deal modeling and assessing the financial impact of commercial trade-offs
Negotiations and commercial terms and conditions are no strangers to you, and you're able to turn around business cases on tight timelines
Solid skills in financial modeling and building clear analyses and scenarios that support decision making
Comfortable extracting the data yourself and leveraging AI to sharpen the business case
Ability to stand your ground and influence senior leaders when you have the case for it - this topic comes loaded with conflicting interests between closing deals quickly and making sure they're closed on the right terms
