This includes the systems responsible for coordinating model reasoning, evaluating agent behavior, and ensuring that agents behave reliably in real customer environments.We focus on correctness, reliability, and speed. Our work shapes how Decagon agents plan, decide, and take actions across millions of interactions.About the RoleAs a Staff Software Engineer on the Agent Orchestration team, you will own the long term architecture of Decagon’s agent platform. You will lead large, multi quarter initiatives that shape how our orchestration engine works, how it scales, and how engineers across the company build on top of it.This role is for someone who thrives on technical depth, can influence across teams, and enjoys creating strong, principled systems that last. You will work closely with Research, Infra, Product Engineering, and Agent SWE to define the standards and frameworks that keep Decagon agents reliable and intelligent.In this role, you willOwn the architecture and evolution of the core execution engine behind Decagon agentsLead design for systems that coordinate complex reasoning and action flows at scaleDrive reliability, testing, and observability standards across the orchestration stackCreate frameworks that enable safe, fast iteration on agent behavior Mentor senior engineers and help grow the technical culture of Agent OrchestrationYour background looks something like this8+ years of engineering experience with a strong record of technical leadershipProficiency in Python or Typescript and comfort with asynchronous programmingExpertise in distributed systems, concurrency, or large-scale real-time platformsAbility to define long-term architecture and lead complex cross-functional projectsStrong instincts around system correctness, reliability, and debuggabilityExperience mentoring other engineers and raising the technical barEven better if you haveExperience designing runtimes, execution engines, or agent frameworksExperience with model driven applications or complex orchestration logicExperience with evaluation or experimentation systemsExperience influencing engineering standards across multiple teamsBenefitsMedical, dental, and vision benefitsTake what you need vacation policyDaily lunches, dinners and snacks in the office to keep you at your bestCompensation$300K – $430K + Offers Equity
