Founded in 2016, Verkada has expanded rapidly with 15 offices and 2,200+ full-time employees.</p></div><h3><strong>About the Team</strong></h3> <p>Alerts are an important part of the Verkada ecosystem and our customers rely on alert notifications to stay on top of live events such as persons of interest entering buildings, if a door was forced open after hours or simply knowing when to let the delivery person in. The Alerts and Operations team is responsible for building and maintaining the end-to-end systems for Events, Alerts and Notifications, processing upwards of 500 million events weekly from over a million devices worldwide.</p> <p>Our systems process real-time events from Verkada's global device fleet, delivering intelligent, actionable alerts through multiple channels including email, SMS, push notifications, and webhooks.</p> <p>In 2025, we launched Operations, a suite of features designed for customers monitoring critical infrastructure with dedicated security teams, starting with enhanced collaboration tools and expanding integration capabilities.</p> <p>We're actively exploring how AI can help customers use our products more efficiently and respond more effectively to events, while continuing to improve the core reliability and intelligence of our alerting systems.</p> <h3><strong>What You'll Do</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Build and maintain scalable backend systems that process hundreds of millions of events, alerts and notifications weekly from security devices deployed around the world. </li> <li>Contribute to building backend infrastructure integrated with AI capabilities </li> <li>Own features end-to-end, from design through implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring in production.</li> <li>Develop and maintain Verkada’s public API interface that our customers use for various integrations. </li> <li>Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and teams across the organization to deliver high-quality products.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>What You Bring</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Degree in Computer Science or similar field. </li> <li>3+ years of professional experience as a Back End Engineer, ideally at a rapidly growing start up or innovative company.</li> <li>Strong programming skills in Go, Python, Java, or C++. Willingness to learn Go if not already proficient.</li> <li>Experience with relational databases (Postgres, MySQL) or non-relational databases (DynamoDB, MongoDB).</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to ship features and take ownership of backend systems. </li> <li>Experience with message queues (Kafka, SQS) or search technologies (OpenSearch, Elasticsearch) is a plus.</li> <li>Experience working in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) and container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, Docker) is a plus.</li> <li>Must be willing and able to work onsite five days per week.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>US Employee Benefits</strong></h3> <p>Verkada is committed to fostering a workplace environment that prioritizes the holistic health and wellbeing of our employees and their families by offering comprehensive wellness perks, benefits, and resources.
