Senior Software Engineer - Camera Platform

Founded in 2016, Verkada has expanded rapidly with 15 offices and 2,200+ full-time employees.</p></div><h3><strong>What You'll Do</strong></h3> <ul> <li><strong>Own</strong> the end-to-end development of on-device camera platform features in <strong>C++</strong> and <strong>Golang</strong>.</li> <li>Collaborate with the product team to turn requirements into <strong>scalable, production-ready</strong> solutions aligned with product vision and customer needs.</li> <li>Partner with streaming, storage, and AI engineering teams to deliver features optimized for <strong>edge computing environments</strong>.</li> <li>Lead code reviews, guide debugging efforts, and uphold coding standards to ensure a <strong>high-quality, maintainable codebase</strong>.</li> <li>Drive and coordinate regular <strong>over-the-air (OTA)</strong> releases, balancing speed of delivery with stability and reliability.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>What You Bring</strong></h3> <ul> <li>BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.</li> <li><strong>5+ years</strong> of professional experience in <strong>systems software</strong> development for performance- and resource-constrained environments.</li> <li>Proficient in at least one systems programming language: <strong>C++</strong> or <strong>Golang</strong>.</li> <li><strong>2+ years</strong> of experience building software for <strong>Linux-based platforms</strong>.</li> <li>Strong understanding of <strong>modern operating systems</strong>, <strong>computer architecture</strong>, and trade-offs between <strong>compute, memory, and storage</strong>.</li> <li>Familiarity with <strong>Bash scripting</strong> and <strong>Python</strong> for tooling and automation.</li> <li>Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering and product teams.</li> <li>Must be willing and able to work onsite five days per week</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Nice to Have</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Experience in development of on-device software for <strong>cloud-connected devices</strong>.</li> <li>Familiar with <strong>Linux Kernel development</strong>.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>US Employee Benefits</strong></h3> <p>Verkada is committed to fostering a workplace environment that prioritizes the holistic health and wellbeing of our employees and their families by offering comprehensive wellness perks, benefits, and resources.
