This role is focused on the initial project phase, primarily defining the scope of work, generating preliminary electrical designs, and supporting the estimating process for custom power and control products. The ideal candidate possesses a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline with at least 5 years of experience and has a solid understanding of the NEC and low-voltage power distribution systems in a manufacturing or project environment. What You’ll Be Working OnCustomer Scope Definition: Directly engage with customers and the estimating team to define the electrical scope of work and translate client requirements into clear, concise technical specifications for custom equipment.Estimating Support: Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates and technical proposals, ensuring alignment with customer scope and manufacturing capabilities.Preliminary Design Deliverables: Create initial electrical design documents for proposals and project handoff, including one-line diagrams, preliminary control schematics, and bills of materials (BOMs).Material Accuracy Confirmation: Confirm the accuracy of project materials quoted to customers, including the review of vendor bid packages and submittals for technical accuracy and cost-effectiveness.Electrical Calculations and Component Sizing: Perform preliminary branch circuit and feeder calculations on power distribution equipment, as well as specifying and sizing appropriate electrical components per applicable codes.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Facilitate a seamless transition from the proposal/submittal stage to the design engineering phase by collaborating closely with the Estimating, Project Management, and Design Engineering teams.What You’ll Bring to the TeamEducation and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering discipline with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing, construction, or project environment doing estimating, costings, or sales.NEC Knowledge: Solid knowledge of the NEC (National Electrical Code).Power Distribution Systems Knowledge: Solid knowledge of low voltage and medium voltage power distribution systems and control panels.Software Proficiency: Solid knowledge of Office-based software systems. Basic knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) to create and document electrical schematics and one-line diagrams.Skills in Relationship Management: Solid skills in developing and maintaining effective work relationships with production personnel, electrical technicians, and the estimating team.Schematic and Diagram Interpretation: Ability to read, understand, and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical diagrams.Work Ethic: Ability to work in a self-directed manner on several projects at the same time and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.Safety and Compliance: This position is designated a safety-sensitive position and/or is located in a safety-sensitive facility.
