You will report to the Sr. Manager of Financial Accounting and work with several departments throughout finance, accounting, and tax, and internal and external auditors.</p> <p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Collaborate with others and manage staff to perform accounting tasks (including month end close and account reconciliations).</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Support FPA (decision support) activities</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Set priorities and direct accounting staff</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Work as a resource for the NYT finance staff and respond to inquiries promptly</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Help with managing compliance activities across accounting-related functions such as accounts payable and employee TE</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Query, mine, analyze on data sets and use data analytics tools to validate and support recorded transactions.</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Review and enforce corporate policies and procedures</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Monitor department work to ensure efficient procedures and resource utilization</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Maintain a control environment over areas of responsibility</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Monitor employee performance, provide constructive feedback to staff and coach employees</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Partner with several departments to gather financial and other relevant information needed for close activities and financial reporting</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Ensure daily operational needs are met</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Provide support to the Sr. Manager of Financial Accounting</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Manage special projects as assigned</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Customers and Contacts:</p> </li> <ul> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>The New York Times financial management and accounting teams based in NY and at SSC</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Corporate Internal Audit team and external auditors</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Several departments and operating groups within The New York Times</p> </li> </ul> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>Demonstrate support and understanding of our<a href="https://www.nytco.com/company/mission-and-values/" target="_blank"> <u>value of journalistic independence</u></a> and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.</p> </li> </ul> <p><strong>Basic Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>You have a bachelor's degree in Accounting and a CPA certification</p> </li> <li class="css-v55p23"> <p>You are committed to continuing education on current and emerging GAAP/SEC issues that impac ...
