MECHANICAL ENGINEER, FACILITIES (STARLINK)</strong></p> <p>SpaceX is leveraging our experience building rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink, the world’s largest satellite constellation and most advanced broadband internet system. We provide reliable and fast internet to millions of users worldwide, including populations with little or no connectivity, rural communities, aircraft, watercraft, and places where existing services are unreliable, too expensive, or disconnected by natural disasters. We design, build, test, and operate all parts of the system, thousands of satellites and consumer antennae that allow users to connect within minutes of unboxing. The Starlink team is seeking out the best-in-class professionals to maximize Starlink’s potential for communities and businesses around the globe.</p> <p>As a Sr. Mechanical Engineer at our Starlink Production facility, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, integrity, and efficiency of our mechanical systems. You will be responsible for troubleshooting, evaluating, and improving various mechanical systems site-wide, including HVAC, plumbing, and building structures and systems. Your expertise will drive continuous improvement initiatives, support sustainability goals, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Additionally, you will be tasked with designing upgrades and overseeing the installation of new assembly lines and processes, with the goal of creating a world-class facility that can support the mission of connecting people across the globe and enabling life beyond Earth. This position is based in Bastrop, Texas (Greater Austin, TX Area).</p> <p><strong>RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Provide engineering support for the design, operation, improvement, and troubleshooting of all facility mechanical components and systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and building structures and systems</li> <li>Coordinate downtime activities between maintenance, construction, and production teams to minimize disruptions</li> <li>Drive mechanical system improvement projects using design change requests and advanced detection methods</li> <li>Troubleshoot mechanical system problems, formulate maintenance protocols, service schedules, and coordinate material procurement for machinery upkeep</li> <li>Write, negotiate, and manage construction contracts with subcontractors across multiple disciplines through contract close-out</li> <li>Collaborate within interdisciplinary teams to design, optimize, and maintain mechanical systems</li> <li>Provide mechanical engineering support to facility technicians to troubleshoot existing electrical equipment and controllers</li> <li>Oversee equipment installation, operation, and maintenance to meet specified parameters</li> </ul> <p><strong>BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or other engineering discipline</li> <li>6+ years of professional experience in design and maintenance of industrial HVAC/plumbing systems</li> </ul> <p><strong>PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:</strong></p> <ul> <li>8+ years of professional experience in designing and maintaining industrial HVAC, plumbing, mechanical systems</li> <li>Proven track record in clean-room design and maintenance, underscoring an understanding of stringent environmental control requirements</li> <li>Proficiency in implementing maintenance solutions with minimal operational impact</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to assist technicians with troubleshooting and repair efforts effectively</li> <li>Capacity to thrive in high-concentration, high-stress environments, with flexibility to work ...
