<p>Toast creates technology to help restaurants and local businesses succeed in a digital world, helping business owners operate, increase sales, engage customers, and keep employees happy.</p> <p>Toast is looking for a seasoned Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) to drive and enhance the efficiency, execution, and cross-functional alignment of complex RD initiatives. As a TPM, you will play a pivotal role in shaping program strategies, establishing best practices, and delivering high-impact programs that align with our product and business technology objectives. This role demands a blend of strategic vision, technical expertise, and hands-on program management, empowering teams to deliver on Toast’s ambitious roadmap.</p> <p> <strong>A day in the life (Responsibilities) </strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Execution Excellence: </strong>Drive execution for major cross-functional programs, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery. Employ advanced forecasting, risk management, and intake strategies to mitigate potential delays and dependencies.</li> <li><strong>Diving Deep: </strong>Quickly understand the scope, requirements, and risks associated with new and existing programs. Be ready to dive deep into technical and operational details, rapidly get up to speed, and identify and mitigate potential risks to ensure smooth program execution; all while being able to keep the big picture in mind.</li> <li><strong>Stakeholder Partnership: </strong>Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders across RD, Product, and Engineering, including senior leadership, collaborating on feature planning and resource allocation to ensure strategic alignment and operational efficiency.</li> <li><strong>Adaptable: </strong>Able to work “the Toast way” and to adapt to change and iterate quickly; comfortable recalibrating plans, processes, and stakeholder expectations in complex and ambiguous environments</li> <li><strong>Technical Leadership and Guidance:</strong> Leverage your technical fluency to guide teams, establishing best practices and fostering continuous improvement. Encourage innovation within program teams by setting technical fluency standards and facilitating professional growth.<br><br></li> </ul> <p><strong>What you'll need to thrive (Requirements)</strong></p> <ul> <li>7+ years of experience in technical program management and working with product/feature teams, with a proven record of managing and delivering complex cross-functional programs in a tech-driven environment.</li> <li>Deep background in the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and strong technical fluency.</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to build strategic frameworks and standardize processes for high-impact delivery across multiple programs.</li> <li>Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with a history of effectively collaborating with technical and non-technical partners.</li> <li>Results-oriented with a strategic mindset; proven ability to drive multiple programs to successful completion with a sense of urgency.</li> <li>Strong problem-solving skills, combined with the ability to make data-driven decisions and communicate insights clearly.</li> <li>Highly adaptable, iterative, and feedback-driven; demonstrates comfort changing direction quickly and embracing challenges as learning opportunities for continuous improvement. </li> <li>Comfortable using AI and eager to continue learning how to leverage its power and explore its potential.</li> <li>Self-starter who thrives both independently and as a cornerstone of a high-performing team.</li> </ul> <p><strong>What will help you stand out (Nonessential Skills/Nice to Haves)</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Insatiably Curious:</strong> A perpetual learner, always exploring cutting-edge tech, AI, organizational psychology, and the dynamic food industry.</li> <li><strong>Trust Builder: </strong>Understands the importance of building trust to better work towards outcomes and bringing everyone a ...
