The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states.</p></div><p>The Depot UX team is seeking a visionary engineer to build the tools that empower our enterprise partners to manage, maintain, and scale our vehicles globally.</p> <p>This team focuses on creating solutions for Commercial RO Managers and depot field operators. Their core mission is to revolutionize depot operations by delivering intuitive and efficient user experiences.</p> <p>You will design, own, and deploy a suite of mission-critical mobile and web applications—the unseen intelligence guiding everything from vehicle readiness and complex servicing protocols to real-time fleet visualization. This is your chance to architect the operational future of autonomous transportation.</p> <p>In this hybrid role, you will report to an Engineering Manager.</p> <p><strong>You will:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Build Android systems critical to Waymo's success, such as:</li> <li>The application used by enterprise partners to manage their fleets of autonomous vehicles</li> <li>Foundational libraries, including scalable UI components, architecture performance</li> <li>Solve hard, real-world problems, such as:</li> <li>Improve human task completion by depot operators; encapsulate the complexity of autonomous fleet management and make it accessible to partners</li> <li>Identify and create infrastructure to enhance app scalability and developer productivity</li> <li>Collaborate with team members such as product managers, designers, fleet operations, and UX researchers</li> <li>Join the team owning a couple of tools used by enterprise partners: Android applications and web app application</li> </ul> <p><strong>You have:</strong></p> <ul> <li>BS/MS degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience</li> <li>4+ years of experience building UX designs on the Android platform</li> <li>Experience working on medium to large-scale Android apps involving multiple developers and designers</li> <li>Experience with Kotlin, Java, Android applications and UIs</li> </ul> <p><strong>We prefer:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated passion and substantial experience in crafting user-facing products.</li> <li>Adept at collaborating with product designers to achieve pixel-perfect UI implementations.</li> <li>Familiarity with Server Driven UI (SDUI) paradigms.</li> <li>Existing experience with or a demonstrated openness to embracing mobile full-stack development. Our team encompasses ownership of both the client-side (Android or Angular web-app) and the specialized “mobile backend for frontend” component (implemented in Kotlin).</li> </ul> <p>#LI-Hybrid</p>
