The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states.</p></div><p><span data-sheets-root="1">Waymo's Compute Team is tasked with a critical and exciting mission: We deliver the compute platform responsible for running the fully autonomous vehicle’s software stack. To achieve our mission, we architect and create high-performance custom silicon; we develop system-level compute architectures that push the boundaries of performance, power, and latency; and we collaborate closely with many other teammates to ensure we design and optimize hardware and software for maximum performance. We are a multidisciplinary team seeking curious and talented teammates to work on one of the world’s highest performance automotive compute platforms. </span></p>
<p><span data-sheets-root="1"><em>This role follows a hybrid work schedule and reports and you will report to the EMC Lead</em></span></p>
<p><strong>You will:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Create, develop, test methods and test performance metrics for various wireless technologies (5G NR, LTE, Wi-Fi, BLE, GNSS)</li>
<li>Cultivate automated test test scripts and and expertly operate sophisticated measurement equipment </li>
<li>Performing deep-dive analysis on internal logs to identity and resolve hardware/software issues, working closely with various cross-functional teams including external vendors</li>
<li>Help with our internationalization efforts working with various international carriers and regulatory bodies so that our module meets stringent regulatory compliance standards</li>
<li>Work with HW/SW development teams in the lab and in the field to identify and resolve connectivity performance issues</li>
<li>Lead our fleet-wide connectivity initiatives for improving involving congestion, priority and coverage across the US and internationally</li>
<li>Conduct and plan targeted field experiments to evaluate and improve performance of various wireless technologies</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>You have:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, related technical field, with 5 years industry experience</li>
<li>Hands-on experience with live network testing that includes creating a test plan, conducting field testing and log analysis</li>
<li>Expert in using wireless testing equipment such as Call Boxes, signaling testers, GNSS Simulator, WLAN Access Points</li>
<li>Solid knowledge with practical experience in at least one of the wireless technologies (5G NR, LTE, GNSS, BLE, Wi-Fi) and experience with SAR, OTA, Coexistence testing, Interoperability testing.</li>
<li>Excellent written/verbal communication, able to work independently</li>
<li>Hands on scripting experience (Shell, Python, Bash) to automate repetitive tasks in various test methods</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>We prefer:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Comfortable with working on hardware and supporting engineering in debugging difficult issues</li>
<li>Deep understanding of cellular protocol stack from PHY/MAC to higher layers</li>
<li>Knowledge of antenna / RF design concepts </li>
<li>Able to travel locally and internationally</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Travel requirements:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>15% a year</li>
