<p>Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together.</p> <p>So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.</p> <p>Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. We're building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.</p> <p><strong>The Role</strong></p> <p>The Square Japan Sales team is looking for a <strong>Sales Development Representative (SDR)</strong> to act as a trusted first point of contact for prospective sellers. As an SDR, you will serve as a brand ambassador for Square Japan, identifying and qualifying inbound leads while showcasing the value of Square's ecosystem for a wide variety of businesses.</p> <p>Using your product knowledge and customer insights, you will help businesses understand how Square can support their growth—whether they're a small family-run shop or a large strategic retailer. You will work closely with our Sales, Marketing, and Partnerships teams, and report into the Business Development Manager, Japan. This role is based in <strong>Japan</strong>, with flexibility to work <strong>our Tokyo office, from home, or hybrid</strong>.</p> <p><strong>You Will</strong></p> <ul> <li>Respond to inbound leads generated through marketing, product channels, referrals, email, phone, and social media</li> <li>Quickly determine which customers are good product fits for Square</li> <li>Prioritize your pipeline for maximum efficiency daily</li> <li>Understand prospective customer requirements and help craft custom solutions</li> <li>Gain experience working with Square Sales, Marketing and Partnership teams</li> <li>Maintain current knowledge of the global Square product ecosystem and how this may help upmarket Japanese merchants to further grow their businesses</li> <li>Create a great first impression for prospective Square merchants by using storytelling, case studies and other materials to inspire them about how Square could benefit their businesses</li> <li>Qualify inbound leads and schedule meetings between merchants and members of our Account Executive team</li> <li>Represent Square and our product ecosystem in the Japanese market</li> <li>Keep up-to-date with the latest business, industry and product trends</li> <li>Partner with the Japanese Account Executive team to gain exposure to the sales cycle and further develop your sales experience, and learn and maintain current understanding of Japanese and global Square sales processes</li> <li>Attain (and ideally exceed) your sales development KPIs and goals</li> <li>Maintain accurate sales data and documentation by using tools including Salesforce</li> </ul> <p><strong>You Have</strong></p> <ul> <li>The ability to work with Japan-based customers in Japanese (writing and phone), and global Square colleagues in English (reading, writing and video meetings)</li> <li>A desire to further develop your career in sales</li> <li>A passion for technology and the industry Square operates in</li> <li>A growth mindset ...
