Bring yours to Block.</p> <h3>The Role</h3> <p>The Data Integrations and Transformations Platform team is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to expand our platform offerings to enable access to valuable data for business critical Machine Learning, Data Science, Risk, and Applied AI teams. Our team sits on top of data ingestion and data archives to deliver platforms and applications for offline and online use cases. Our team is responsible for providing solutions for internal teams to access valuable data via mechanisms that abstract them from dealing with the nuances of raw data access thus improving customer developer velocity across Block.</p> <h3>You Will</h3> <ul> <li>Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services</li> <li>Lead technical design and implementation for critical systems</li> <li>Collaborate with engineering, product, data science, operations, and risk teams to deliver impactful solutions.</li> <li>Drive technical excellence by establishing and promoting best practices in design, coding, testing, and operations.</li> <li>Mentor and guide engineers, fostering technical growth and a culture of learning.</li> <li>Own project outcomes end-to-end—from concept through architecture, implementation, testing, and deployment.</li> <li>Contribute to the team's roadmap by identifying opportunities for technical improvement and innovation.</li> </ul> <h3>You Have</h3> <ul> <li>8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with a focus on backend systems.</li> <li>Deep understanding of distributed systems, data modeling, and service-oriented architectures.</li> <li>Experience building and operating large-scale, production-grade systems.</li> <li>Strong collaboration skills and experience working with cross-functional partners across engineering, product, and finance domains.</li> <li>Ability to lead technical discussions, align stakeholders, and deliver measurable outcomes.</li> <li>Experience mentoring engineers and improving team performance.</li> </ul> <h3>Technologies We Use and Teach</h3> <ul> <li>Databricks</li> <li>Snowflake</li> <li>Java</li> <li>Kotlin</li> <li>Python</li> <li>Kafka</li> <li>Spark</li> </ul> <p>We're working to build a more inclusive economy where our customers have equal access to opportunity, and we strive to live by these same values in building our workplace.
