Strategic Program Manager, Compliance
BlockBay Area, CA, United States of AmericaPosted 24 February 2026
Job Description

Block is one company built from many blocks, all united by the same purpose of economic empowerment. The blocks that form our foundational teams — People, Finance, Counsel, Hardware, Information Security, Platform Infrastructure Engineering, and more — provide support and guidance at the corporate level. They work across business groups and around the globe, spanning time zones and disciplines to develop inclusive People policies, forecast finances, give legal counsel, safeguard systems, nurture new initiatives, and more. Every challenge creates possibilities, and we need different perspectives to see them all. Bring yours to Block.

The Role

We're seeking a Strategic Project Manager to join our Compliance Strategy and Operations PMO, driving key programs that enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and scalability of our global Compliance organization. You will sit at the intersection of strategy, execution, and operational excellence — shaping how Compliance delivers on its mission while ensuring sustainable growth across regions and functions.

You are a strategic operator and execution leader, skilled at navigating complexity, building cross-functional alignment, and translating vision into actionable outcomes. You bring structure to ambiguity, communicate with clarity, and drive momentum across diverse teams. Above all, you're passionate about enabling progress through disciplined project execution and strategic partnership.

You Will

Lead High-Impact Initiatives: Develop and drive comprehensive project roadmaps and plans to deliver strategic Compliance objectives. Define scope, success metrics, and key milestones while managing cross-functional dependencies and risks.

Strategic Partnering: Act as a trusted advisor to Compliance and functional leaders, distilling complex issues into clear recommendations and driving consensus to enable decision-making.

Execution Excellence: Operate with autonomy and accountability to anticipate challenges, remove blockers, and ensure forward momentum against priorities.

Cross-Functional Leadership: Align and influence diverse stakeholders — including internal business partners, external vendors, and leadership teams — to achieve shared outcomes.

Operational Rigor: Establish and optimize frameworks, tools, and governance models to standardize project delivery and reporting across the Compliance organization.

Program Oversight: Support strategic programs through prioritization, resourcing, vendor selection, and progress tracking to ensure measurable and sustainable impact.

Performance Reporting: Develop and communicate clear, data-driven updates and insights through executive-level reporting and dashboards.

Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, transparency, and execution speed across global initiatives.

You Have

8+ years of experience in project management, program management, consulting, or strategy, ideally within Compliance, Risk, Financial Services, or a highly regulated industry.

Proven ability to lead strategic and operationally complex initiatives in a cross-functional environment.

Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and align at all levels.

Strong analytical and documentation skills, capable of synthesizing complex data into actionable insights and recommendations.

Demonstrated success establishing governance structures, reporting frameworks, and execution processes.

Experience with project reporting fundamentals — including budget, timeline, and performance indicators.

Even Better

PMP, CAPM, or Six Sigma certification.

Experience with project management tools such as Asana, Jira, or Coda.

Familiarity with Compliance ... (truncated, view full listing at source)
