Head of Design, Financial Suite

<p>Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together.<br><br>So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. We’re building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.</p> <h4><strong>The Role</strong></h4> <p>Square’s Financial Suite team is reimagining how small businesses understand, manage, and grow their money. Our goal is to become a trusted partner for every seller — providing powerful, intuitive financial management tools that simplify back-office operations, automate workflows, and turn complex data into actionable insight.</p> <p>We’re looking for a Head of Design to lead the design vision for Square’s Financial Suite — a collection of tools that help sellers make smarter decisions, reduce costs, and drive profitability. As a key member of the Financial Suite leadership team, you’ll define how product experience, brand, and research come together to deliver trust, intelligence, and simplicity at scale.</p> <p>You’ll report to the Head of Design for Square, and be a key member of the Financial Suite leadership team alongside peers in Product, Engineering, and Marketing leading a team of product designers.</p> <h4><strong>You Will</strong></h4> <ul> <li><strong>Define a cohesive vision for Financial Suite.</strong> Establish the design strategy and creative direction for how sellers experience automation, analytics, and cash flow management across Square’s ecosystem.</li> <li><strong>Elevate design quality and clarity.</strong> Raise the standard of excellence across every touchpoint — ensuring each workflow and insight feels elegant, human, and empowering.</li> <li><strong>Drive alignment through influence.</strong> Partner with peers in Product, Engineering, and Data Science to define priorities, shape strategy, and bring cohesive solutions to market.</li> <li><strong>Champion intelligence and automation.</strong> Leverage AI and machine learning to simplify complex workflows, automate manual tasks, and deliver proactive insights that help sellers make better decisions.</li> <li><strong>Mentor and scale design leadership.</strong> Develop design managers and senior ICs, cultivating an environment of clarity, accountability, and creative excellence.</li> <li><strong>Shape systems that scale.</strong> Build frameworks, design patterns, and processes that enable rapid iteration without sacrificing craft or cohesion across products.</li> </ul> <h4><strong>You Have</strong></h4> <ul> <li>15+ years of experience in design management both leading and building product design teams.</li> <li>A proven ability to lead through complexity — guiding teams to deliver intuitive, data-informed experiences across multiple interconnected products.</li> <li>Expertise in product systems, service design, or workflow automation, ideally within financial or enterprise domains.</li> <li>A strong understanding of data visualization, analy ...
