Role overview
As our Senior Director, Talent Acquisition , you will shape the future of CarGurus by building and leading a world-class function that consistently hires exceptional, diverse talent. This highly visible, strategic role reports to the Chief People Officer and serves as a key member of the People Talent Leadership Team. You will partner closely with executives across the business to design forward-looking talent strategies that fuel growth, raise the bar on talent quality, and strengthen leadership capability across the company.

What you'll do
Talent Strategy Executive Partnership:
Serve as a trusted advisor to executives across all functions, proactively bringing data-driven insights, talent market intelligence, and strategic recommendations that shape organizational and workforce planning.
Embed Talent Acquisition as a critical strategic driver, ensuring business leaders are aligned on hiring priorities and armed with the insights to build exceptional teams.
Influence at the senior-most levels with thoughtful perspective, clarity of communication, and an enterprise-first mindset.
Build and Lead a Best-in-Class TA Organization:
Define and execute the vision for a high-performing, scalable TA function, raising the bar for hiring excellence across CarGurus.
Recruit, develop, and mentor a team of 20+ recruiters and operations professionals—cultivating a culture of accountability, growth, curiosity, and top-tier performance.
Ensure the team delivers a consistent, “wow” candidate experience that reflects our values and differentiates CarGurus in competitive markets.
Operational Excellence, Tools Analytics:
Oversee TA operations and drive continuous improvement through the deployment of modern tools, technologies, and systems that improve efficiency, quality, and scalability.
Strengthen analytics and reporting capabilities, enabling the business to make smarter workforce decisions through better visibility into hiring performance, pipeline health, and market dynamics.
Introduce innovative, technology-enabled approaches to sourcing, screening, and evaluating talent—while preserving the high-touch elements of recruiting that matter most.
Proactive Market Sourcing Talent Pipeline Development:
Build and manage long-term pipelines for high-impact and hard-to-fill roles, with a focus on Boston and Dublin.
Establish deep knowledge of the external talent landscape and maintain ongoing relationships with top prospects—even before roles open.
Ensure CarGurus is consistently identifying, engaging, and nurturing high-potential talent in the market to support current and future growth.
