Software Engineer, CI/CD

Our team builds the systems that facilitate seamless automated testing and deployments, ensuring scalable and reliable delivery pipelines.</p> <p>The CI/CD Engineer is pivotal in transforming our CI/CD landscape to enhance developer efficiency across the organization. You will be part of a team that architects, develops, and operates high-performance CI/CD pipelines that align with our mission to provide an unparalleled development environment, driving innovation and stability for our large-scale applications. This infrastructure engineering team builds and operates developer tooling and maintains critical platforms to ensure the Asana application is of high quality and deployed safely and often. We are responsible for systems which allow hundreds of engineers at Asana to get their changes in front of users the same day as they are completed, and receive immediate feedback when bugs are introduced. The team owns and builds every aspect of our product, from the UI and external APIs down to the backend services.</p> <p><strong>What you'll achieve:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Design, build, and operate systems which ensure Asana engineers are building and deploying high-quality products.</li> <li>Own every part of the improvements you make, from infrastructure changes through to front end interfaces.</li> <li>Advance your AI tooling experience in your day to day problem solving, decision making and be a force multiplier by integrating into Product infrastructure organization at Asana. </li> <li>Modernize our development, testing, and deployment tooling, tighten development iteration loops, and polish the development lifecycle experience .</li> <li>Solve scalability problems related to our development environment and build system.</li> <li>Iterating and making decisions around tooling standards for the entire engineering organization while enabling specific users to achieve specialized use-cases effectively</li> </ul> <p><strong>About You:</strong></p> <ul> <li>4+ years of professional experience in a CI/CD, Infrastructure or Software Engineering role.</li> <li>Expertise in CI/CD concepts and hands-on experience with at least one major CI/CD platform.</li> <li>Strong coding skills (e.g., Typescript, Python, Ruby, Bash, Go) to build custom tools and automation.</li> <li>Proven experience working with AI tooling and integrations (eg: Claude, Cursor, MCP servers).</li> <li>Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and infrastructure as code tools like Terraform. </li> <li>Solid understanding of Docker and container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes.</li> <li>A genuine passion for making other developers' lives better. You should be a proactive problem-solver with excellent communication skills and a customer-centric attitude.</li> <li>You should enjoy working with cross-functional teams and rolling out changes that can impact the entire engineering organization.</li> <li>Experience with building internal developer platforms or tools. </li> <li>Understanding of progressive delivery techniques such as feature flags, blue-green deployments, and canary releases.</li> <li>Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Sentry).</li> <li>A portfolio or examples of personal projects focused on developer tooling or automation.</li> <li>Active contributor to open source projects or previous experience with large-scale software development at a leading tech company.</li> </ul> <p>This role is based in our San Francisco office with an<a href="https://theworkback.com/reuniting-teams/"> office-centric hybrid</a> schedule.
