Senior Investment Associate

Founded out of Y Combinator in 2016, Legalist manages over $1.7 billion for endowments, foundations, and family offices.</p></div><p><strong>Core responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li data-start="166" data-end="305">Conduct due diligence on prospective credit investments and prepare clear, data-driven investment recommendations for senior team members</li> <li data-start="308" data-end="431">Build and maintain sophisticated Excel-based financial models to evaluate complex assets across industries and structures</li> <li data-start="434" data-end="555">Prepare valuation, scenario, and performance analyses to support underwriting decisions and monitor ongoing investments</li> <li data-start="558" data-end="653">Partner with the origination team to identify, evaluate, and help close target counterparties</li> <li data-start="656" data-end="805">Support cross-functional initiatives related to origination, underwriting, structuring, portfolio management, operations, technology, and marketing</li> </ul> <p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li data-start="829" data-end="897">Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced degrees encouraged</li> <li data-start="900" data-end="1054">5+ years of relevant experience in finance, credit, law, or advisory/consulting roles, ideally with exposure to complex assets or structured investments</li> <li data-start="1057" data-end="1186">Strong proficiency in financial statement analysis, advanced Excel-based financial modeling, and asset and enterprise valuation</li> <li data-start="1189" data-end="1284">Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable owning independent analytical workstreams</li> <li data-start="1287" data-end="1386">Strong written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders</li> <li data-start="1389" data-end="1443">Thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment</li> </ul>
