This role will give you the flavour of the type of things you’ll be working on when you start — but it will likely evolve.</p><p>As a <strong>Social Design Lead – Templates</strong>, you’ll shape how millions of users create social-first content inside Canva. You won’t just design beautiful assets — you’ll <strong>design systems, storytelling structures, and trend-driven templates</strong> that <strong>empower everyday creators</strong> to produce <strong>high-performing content across social media platforms.</strong></p><p><strong>At the moment, this role is focused on:</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Designing short-form, social-first templates</strong> for platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, and others</li><li>Translating global design and social media trends into usable, customisable Canva templates</li><li><strong>Building repeatable storytelling frameworks —</strong> hooks, transitions, pacing, and visual sequences that reflect real platform behaviour</li><li>Creating motion-aware, mobile-first design systems that balance craft, scalability, and performance</li><li>Collaborating closely with Content Studio, Product, and Video teams to showcase Canva’s latest editing and video capabilities</li><li><strong>Contributing to trend forecasting,</strong> creative reviews, and experimentation across video, motion, and AI-assisted content</li></ul><p><strong>You’re probably a match if</strong></p><ul><li>You have <strong>strong graphic design experience</strong>, <strong>with a portfolio </strong>that demonstrates <strong>high craft across digital and motion-based formats</strong></li><li>You deeply <strong>understand global design and social media trends </strong>— not just what’s trending, but <strong>why it performs</strong></li><li>You have <strong>excellent social media fluency and understand platform behaviours</strong>, storytelling <strong>patterns, and audience psychology</strong> (you don’t need to be an influencer — but you do understand the ecosystem)</li><li>You’re <strong>confident designing for video, motion, and mobile-first formats</strong></li><li>You can<strong> turn cultural trends into scalable template systems</strong> that non-experts can easily customise</li><li>You’re collaborative, fast-moving, and excited by empowering millions of people to tell their stories</li></ul><p><strong>About the team</strong></p><p><strong>The Content Studio team </strong>within the Global Content &amp; Discovery supergroup is on a mission to empower the world to design.
