Internet Measurement Research Intern - OpenConnect Distributed Systems, Summer 2026

To steward that responsibility, we work collaboratively with ISPs to deploy Open Connect , Netflix’s Content Delivery Network (CDN), which delivers 100% of Netflix's video traffic.  Our team’s mission is to support that delivery by ensuring the smooth coordination and operation of the Open Connect Appliances (OCAs) deployed by the thousands around the world, to provide a fantastic viewing experience for all Netflix members. The Role: As a research intern, you will have the opportunity to conduct networking research in the context of this global CDN, exploring opportunities for performance, resilience, and reliability optimizations. This includes further the understanding of how the infrastructure interacts with the Internet and how clients are able to effectively connect to the CDN. Who are You? Currently pursuing a PhD degree at an accredited university in Computer Science or related field with focuses on networking, Internet Measurement, or Internet distributed systems, graduating in December 2026, Summer 2027 or later. To be intern-eligible, you must be returning to school for one semester or quarter post-Summer internship. A burning desire to solve real-world problems at scale. Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, BGP) Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills with knowledge of statistical methods. Excellent software development skills, Comfortable with software engineering best practices (e.g. version control, testing, code review, etc.) Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Bonus points: Familiarity with CDN and content delivery architectures. Experience working with cross-functional teams. Experience with cloud computing platforms and large web-scale distributed systems. Open source contributions. Research publications at peer reviewed journals and conferences on relevant topics. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary and will also be dependent on your location. The overall market range for Netflix Internships is typically $40/hour - $110/hour.
