This highly specialized position requires exceptional driving skill, communication skills, attention to detail in loading/unloading, and a strong commitment to compliance with all federal and state regulations. The driver will operate a Western Star Sleeper Cab. This role requires extended periods away from home.</p> <p><strong>What you’ll be doing:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Safely and efficiently operate a Western Star sleeper cab with a specialized car-hauling trailer.</li> <li>Spend extended periods on the road and in-cab lodging.</li> <li>Operate loads of up to nine vehicles with automatic and manual transmissions on an assigned route.</li> <li>Load/unload and secure vehicles in accordance with applicable standards.</li> <li>Complete and accurately document thorough pre and post trip inspections of the Western Star; timely submit accurate inspection reports.</li> <li>Perform simple maintenance required in connection with pre and post trip inspections such as topping off fluids (e.g. engine oil, coolant), and tire inflation.</li> <li>Keep and maintain accurate driver logs.</li> <li>Adhere to applicable safety and traffic procedures, laws, and regulations.</li> <li>Timely and effectively report all unsafe vehicle or road conditions.</li> <li>Perform tasks independently with minimal supervision.</li> <li>Other duties as assigned.</li> </ul> <p><strong>What the Job Requires</strong></p> <p>To be able to do your job at Carvana, there are some basic requirements we want to share with you.</p> <ul> <li>Three-month contracted commitment</li> <li>21+ years of age.</li> <li>1+ year of driving experience at Carvana</li> <li>OTR driving experience preferred</li> <li>Experience and comfortability driving in all weather conditions and urban environments</li> <li>6+ consecutive months experience within the last three years driving a vehicle transporter or tractor trailer, or equivalent Military experience. </li> <li>Class A CDL driving experience, with 1+ employer or owner operator.</li> <li>Have and maintain a valid Class A CDL, DOT Medical Card, and clean driving record (No DUIs, No more than two at fault accidents, and No more than 2 moving violations, in the last 3 years).</li> <li>Ability to pass controlled substance tests given in accordance with FMCSA Section 382.301(a) (Pre-Employment), FMCSA Section 382.303 (Post-Accident), and FMCSA Sections 382.303-311. (Random/Reasonable Suspicion).</li> <li>Ability to safely and professionally operate Carvana equipment (including manual transmission vehicles) according to established Carvana, DOT, and FMCSA rules, regulations and policies, anywhere in the United States.</li> <li>Ability to maintain consistent and reliable attendance, and work shifts of up to 16 hours in a single day.</li> <li>Ability to work outdoors regularly for extended periods of time in all weather conditions.</li> <li>Ability and comfort to be around fumes or odors that are from vehicles under maintenance.</li> <li>Ability to work overtime, nights, weekends and holidays as needed. </li> <li>Ability to communicate and interact with others effectively in a professional, courteous manner.</li> <li>Ability to safely perform physical requirements of the position, including: frequently move in and out of vehicles; frequently st ...
