<p></p> <p data-start="163" data-end="469"><strong data-start="163" data-end="177">Job Title:</strong> Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist<br data-start="219" data-end="222"><strong data-start="222" data-end="234">Banding:</strong> Band 6<br data-start="241" data-end="244"><strong data-start="244" data-end="257">Location:</strong> London – West Middlesex University Hospital<br data-start="301" data-end="304"><strong data-start="304" data-end="319">Start Date:</strong> ASAP<br data-start="324" data-end="327"><strong data-start="327" data-end="338">Salary:</strong> £24.00–£26.50 per hour<br data-start="361" data-end="364"><strong data-start="364" data-end="386">Contract Duration:</strong> 3 months (with the option to extend)<br data-start="423" data-end="426"><strong data-start="426" data-end="444">Working Hours:</strong> Full-time or Part-time</p> <hr data-start="471" data-end="474"> <h2 data-start="476" data-end="493">Job Overview</h2> <p data-start="494" data-end="781">We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join the acute team at West Middlesex University Hospital. This role is ideal for a dysphagia-competent SLT who is confident working autonomously within a fast-paced acute hospital environment.</p> <p data-start="783" data-end="1197">You will be primarily based on the acute wards, providing specialist assessment and rehabilitation for adults with swallowing and communication difficulties. There may also be opportunities to support cross-cover on the stroke unit, offering further variety and clinical exposure. This is an excellent opportunity for an SLT looking to broaden or consolidate their acute experience within a supportive NHS setting.</p> <hr data-start="1199" data-end="1202"> <h2 data-start="1204" data-end="1229">Key Responsibilities</h2> <p data-start="1230" data-end="1768">In this role, you will:<br data-start="1253" data-end="1256">• Provide autonomous assessment and management of adult patients with dysphagia within acute wards.<br data-start="1355" data-end="1358">• Deliver dysphagia rehabilitation and contribute to communication assessment and intervention as required.<br data-start="1465" data-end="1468">• Manage and prioritise an acute caseload effectively, responding to urgent referrals.<br data-start="1554" data-end="1557">• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support patient care and discharge planning.<br data-start="1659" data-end="1662">• Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation in line with Trust and professional standards.</p> <hr data-start="1770" data-end="1773"> <h2 data-start="1775" data-end="1809">Qualifications and Experience</h2> <p data-start="1810" data-end="2292">To be considered for this role, you must have:<br data-start="1856" data-end="1859">• A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).<br data-start="1928" data-end="1931">• HCPC registration and eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).<br data-start="2045" data-end="2048">• Proven experience working within an adult acute or hospital-based SLT service.<br data-start="2128" data-end="2131">• Dysphagia competency and the ability to work independently within an acute caseload.<br data-start="2217" data-end="2220">• Strong communication, clinical reasoning, and organisational skills.</p> <p data-start="2294" data-end="2381"><strong data-start="2294" data-end="2317">Desirable criteria:</strong><br data-start="2317" data-end="2320">• Videofluoroscopy competency.<br data-start="2350" data-end="2353">• Tracheostomy competency.</p> <hr data-start="2383" data-end="2386"> <h2 data-start="2388" data-end="2410">Why Choose Pulse?</h2> <p data-start="2411" data-end="2793">From the moment you register with Pulse, our focus is entirely on you.
