<p data-start="364" data-end="677">We are currently seeking a skilled and confident <strong data-start="413" data-end="465">Band 6 Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist</strong> to join the acute therapy team at West Middlesex University Hospital. This role is based primarily on the acute wards, with potential cross-cover to the stroke unit, supporting adults with complex medical needs.</p>
<p data-start="679" data-end="1066">The successful candidate will work autonomously within an acute caseload, delivering high-quality dysphagia assessment, management, and rehabilitation, alongside communication input as required. This opportunity is ideal for a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist who is confident working in a fast-paced acute hospital environment and committed to delivering safe, patient-centred care.</p>

<h2 data-start="1073" data-end="1098">Key Responsibilities</h2>
<p data-start="1099" data-end="1124">In this role, you will:</p>
<ul data-start="1125" data-end="1789">
<li data-start="1125" data-end="1238">
<p data-start="1127" data-end="1238">Assess, diagnose, and manage adults with dysphagia and communication difficulties within acute medical wards.</p>
</li>
<li data-start="1239" data-end="1363">
<p data-start="1241" data-end="1363">Deliver dysphagia rehabilitation and provide evidence-based recommendations to ensure patient safety and effective care.</p>
</li>
<li data-start="1364" data-end="1472">
<p data-start="1366" data-end="1472">Manage an acute caseload independently, prioritising referrals and managing clinical risk appropriately.</p>
</li>
<li data-start="1473" data-end="1560">
<p data-start="1475" data-end="1560">Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings, ward rounds, and discharge planning.</p>
</li>
<li data-start="1561" data-end="1670">
<p data-start="1563" data-end="1670">Maintain accurate, timely, and professional clinical documentation in line with HCPC and trust standards.</p>
</li>
<li data-start="1671" data-end="1789">
<p data-start="1673" data-end="1789">Provide education and guidance to patients, families, and ward staff regarding swallowing and communication needs.</p>

<h2 data-start="1796" data-end="1830">Qualifications and Experience</h2>
<p data-start="1831" data-end="1879">To be considered for this role, you must have:</p>
<ul data-start="1880" data-end="2302">
<li data-start="1880" data-end="1951">
<p data-start="1882" data-end="1951">A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).</p>
</li>
<li data-start="1952" data-end="2068">
<p data-start="1954" data-end="2068">HCPC registration and eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).</p>
</li>
<li data-start="2069" data-end="2155">
<p data-start="2071" data-end="2155">Dysphagia competency with experience working within adult acute hospital settings.</p>
</li>
<li data-start="2156" data-end="2231">
<p data-start="2158" data-end="2231">Ability to work independently and demonstrate sound clinical judgement.</p>
