<p><strong>Band 7/8a Clinical Pharmacist</strong></p>
<p><strong>Banding:</strong> Band 7 or 8a<br><strong>Location:</strong> Calderdale Royal Hospital (CRH) or Huddersfield Royal Infirmary (HRI)<br><strong>Start Date:</strong> ASAP<br><strong>Duration:</strong> Ongoing<br><strong>Hourly Rate:</strong> £30–£35 per hour (DOE)<br><strong>Working Hours:</strong> Monday–Friday, 08:30–17:00 (occasional requirement to work until 18:00)</p>
<p><strong>Job Overview</strong></p>
<p>Pulse is now recruiting for an experienced Band 7 or 8a Clinical Pharmacist to join the Clinical Pharmacy Service at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.<br>This is an excellent opportunity to deliver high‑quality medicines optimisation, provide expert clinical input, and support multidisciplinary teams across a range of clinical settings.</p>
<p>You must have strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both autonomously and within a wider team.</p>
<p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p>
<p><strong>Clinical Duties</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Review prescriptions for clinical appropriateness, legality, and potential drug interactions.</li>
<li>Dispense and supply medications in line with Trust and legal standards.</li>
<li>Provide clinical and professional advice to medical, nursing, AHP and pharmacy staff, as well as patients and carers.</li>
<li>Make evidence-based clinical recommendations, including dose adjustments and complex drug calculations.</li>
<li>Manage medication decisions for patients with renal/hepatic impairment, co‑morbidities, or concurrent therapies.</li>
<li>Advise in high‑risk areas such as IV therapy, pregnancy, and breastfeeding.</li>
<li>Use professional judgement to manage complex clinical scenarios where definitive information may be limited.</li>
<li>Participate in pharmacy audits, research, and quality‑improvement activities.</li>
<li>Support antimicrobial stewardship in collaboration with microbiology and antibiotic pharmacists.</li>
<li>(If qualified) Prescribe independently within your area of competence.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Professional Duties</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Implement Trust Medicines Management and medication safety policies.</li>
<li>Undertake duties of the Responsible Pharmacist when required.</li>
<li>Contribute to staff training, supervision, and education of pharmacy students and wider healthcare colleagues.</li>
<li>Maintain up‑to‑date CPD in line with GPhC requirements.</li>
<li>Work flexibly across CRH, HRI and other Trust sites where needed.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Qualifications Experience</strong></p>
<p><strong>Essential:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>MPharm or equivalent degree approved by the GPhC</li>
<li>GPhC registered Pharmacist</li>
<li>Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy (or equivalent)</li>
<li>Minimum 1 year pre‑registration training</li>
<li>Strong clinical pharmacy and medicines management knowledge</li>
<li>Understanding of medicines governance</li>
<li>Computer literate – ideally with experience using Cerner and EMIS</li>
<li>Experience in clinical audit and/or pharmacy practice research</li>
<li>Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workload and meet deadlines</li>
<li>Ability to work both independently and as part of a team</li>
<li>Commitment to ongoing CPD</li>
<li>Eligibility to work in the UK</li>
<li>Ability to work across multiple Trust sites</li>
</ul>
