<p><strong>Job Title:</strong> Obstetrics and Gynaecology Consultant<br><strong>Grade:</strong> Consultant<br><strong>Location:</strong> East Anglia<br><strong>Working Hours:</strong> Full-time, 10 PAs (with flexibility for part-time applicants)<br><strong>Salary:</strong> £105,504 – £139,882 per annum</p> <p><strong>About the Role</strong></p> <p>This University Hospital is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to join our dynamic and expanding team. This post supports the delivery of high-quality care across antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal, and gynaecological services, with opportunities to develop a specialist interest in areas such as maternal and fetal medicine, urogynaecology, or minimally invasive surgery.<br>You will be joining a team of 12 consultant obstetricians, working in a supportive environment with a strong focus on clinical excellence, teaching, and research.</p> <p><strong>Requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li>Full registration and licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC)</li> <li>Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (or within 6 months of interview)</li> <li>Relevant postgraduate qualifications and Fellowship of a Royal College (e.g., MRCOG/FRCOG)</li> <li>Experience in managing both routine and complex obstetric and gynaecological cases</li> <li>Commitment to teamwork, clinical leadership, and continuous improvement</li> </ul> <p><strong>Typical Job Plan and Duties</strong><br>A standard job plan includes:</p> <ul> <li>10 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week, including: <ul> <li>Antenatal and gynaecology outpatient clinics</li> <li>Labour ward cover and intrapartum care</li> <li>Theatre sessions for elective and emergency gynaecological procedures</li> </ul> </li> <li>Participation in on-call rota (separate for obstetrics and gynaecology)</li> <li>Involvement in teaching, audit, and service development</li> <li>Opportunities to lead on clinical guidelines, research, and quality improvement projects</li> </ul> <p><strong>About the Department</strong></p> <ul> <li>A team of 12 WTE consultants providing 24/7 consultant presence in obstetrics</li> <li>Separate consultant on-call cover for gynaecology</li> <li>Services include antenatal clinics, labour ward care, postnatal follow-up, and gynaecological surgery</li> <li>Dedicated maternal and fetal medicine services with subspecialty-trained consultants</li> <li>Strong emphasis on guideline development, clinical governance, and multidisciplinary collaboration</li> </ul> <p><strong>About the Hospital</strong></p> <p>A major teaching hospital with over 1,000 beds, serving a population of more than 1 million.
