<h3 data-start="455" data-end="473">Job Overview</h3>
<p data-start="474" data-end="919">We are seeking an experienced and passionate Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join an Outstanding Specialist College in Southwark, supporting young people and adults with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The college offers life-changing learning opportunities for students with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), communication and behavioural difficulties, and complex medical needs.</p>
<p data-start="921" data-end="1318">This role is ideal for a Band 6 or Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist with experience in specialist education or complex needs. You will work within a highly supportive, multi-disciplinary team, delivering person-centred, evidence-based speech and language therapy to empower learners to develop functional communication, independence, and skills for meaningful participation in their community.</p>
<h3 data-start="1320" data-end="1346">Key Responsibilities</h3>
<p data-start="1347" data-end="1370">In this role, you will:</p>

<p data-start="1373" data-end="1542">Assess, diagnose, and manage speech, language, communication, and swallowing needs for young people and adults with complex SEND, including PMLD and behavioural needs.</p>
</li>
<li data-start="1543" data-end="1673">
<p data-start="1545" data-end="1673">Plan and deliver individualised and group therapy programmes aligned with learners’ functional goals and educational outcomes.</p>
</li>
<li data-start="1674" data-end="1844">
<p data-start="1676" data-end="1844">Provide specialist advice, modelling, and training to teaching staff, support workers, and families to embed communication strategies across the learning environment.</p>
</li>
<li data-start="1845" data-end="1966">
<p data-start="1847" data-end="1966">Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) processes, annual reviews, and multi-disciplinary team meetings.</p>
</li>
<li data-start="1967" data-end="2086">
<p data-start="1969" data-end="2086">Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with professional, organisational, and legal standards.</p>
</li>
<li data-start="2087" data-end="2212">
<p data-start="2089" data-end="2212">Support service development and best practice, with opportunities to mentor junior colleagues or students (Band 7 level).</p>

<h3 data-start="2214" data-end="2249">Qualifications and Experience</h3>
<p data-start="2250" data-end="2298">To be considered for this role, you should have:</p>
<ul data-start="2299" data-end="2765">

<p data-start="2301" data-end="2370">A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).</p>
</li>
<li data-start="2371" data-end="2490">
<p data-start="2373" data-end="2490">HCPC registration and membership (or eligibility) with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).</p>
</li>
<li data-start="2491" data-end="2614">
<p data-start="2493" data-end="2614">Experience working with young people or adults with SEND, PMLD, complex communication needs, or behavioural challenges.</p>
