Job Description

As an Avionics Engineer at Poseidon Aerospace, you will aid development of avionics systems from the ground up. You will work on systems that enable safe, reliable, and efficient autonomous flight, including navigation, control algorithms, and real-time decision-making. Additionally you will test and validate your design in a SITL/HITL environment. We're looking for someone with hands-on experience working on autonomous systems, who thrives in dynamic environments, and is passionate about pushing the boundaries of aviation technology. Responsibilities: Design, develop, and optimize autonomous flight systems, including sensor data flow, vehicle missions systems, power delivery, and data networks. Integrate software with onboard sensors, actuators, and avionics, enabling autonomous mission execution and real-time adaptation. Support the creation of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and other design documentation. Contribute to system analysis for electrical loads, software performance, and vehicle reliability. Assist in developing a robust test framework for avionics systems. Implement best practices to ensure system reliability and performance in autonomous aircraft systems. Collaborate with aerospace engineers, avionics engineers, and field testing teams to ensure robust software integration and reliable flight operation. Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize flight software both in simulation and during field tests. Ideal Qualifications: Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field from an accredited university. Basic understanding of electrical circuits and systems. Knowledge of standard communication protocols such as CAN, serial, I2C, UDP. Experience with aircraft sensors like GPS, IMUs, thermocouples, proximity sensors. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Nice to Have: Previous internship or project experience in the aerospace industry. Familiarity with vehicle electrical systems. Experience with simulation tools such as SPICE or MATLAB/Simulink Hands-on experience with electronics projects or lab work.
