Senior Applied Scientist, 3D Reconstruction

As we expand our next-generation agentic AI - adaptive, goal-driven, and capable of reasoning about complex environments. We’re strengthening our capabilities in 3D world reconstruction to enable richer scene understanding, intelligent agents, and scalable simulation systems within the Unity engine.<br><br>We’re looking for a Senior Applied Scientist to help drive this work forward. In this role, you’ll focus on computer vision and 3D reconstruction research, building systems that reconstruct, interpret, and model complex 3D environments. Your contributions will directly support agent development and next-generation AI systems operating inside interactive worlds.<br><br></p> <p><strong>What you'll be doing</strong></p> <ul> <li>Develop and improve 3D world reconstruction pipelines for dynamic and large-scale virtual environments.</li> <li>Apply advanced computer vision techniques to recover geometry, semantics, and structure from multimodal inputs.</li> <li>Design and implement world modeling systems that enable agents to perceive and reason about 3D environments.</li> <li>Contribute to agent development frameworks that operate within reconstructed or simulated worlds.</li> <li>Integrate reconstruction and perception systems directly within the Unity engine.</li> <li>Explore and apply genetic or evolutionary frameworks in combination with computer vision approaches to improve model robustness and adaptation.</li> <li>Define evaluation strategies and benchmarks to measure reconstruction accuracy, generalization, and agent-environment interaction quality.</li> <li>Collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to transition research into scalable, production-ready systems.</li> </ul> <p><strong>What we're looking for</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Vision, Computer Graphics, Robotics, or a related field.</li> <li>Hands-on experience with game engines, ideally Unity or comparable real-time 3D platforms.</li> <li>Experience developing or working with intelligent agents in simulated or interactive environments.</li> <li>Proficiency in Python and modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch.</li> <li>Experience in an agentic development environment.</li> <li>Strong understanding of 3D geometry, spatial reasoning, and scene representation.</li> <li>Ability to translate research ideas into practical systems.</li> </ul> <p><strong>You might also have</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience combining AI research with game engines or real-time simulations.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Benefits</strong><br>At Unity, we want our team members to thrive.
