As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you will be a key contributor to modernizing our core infrastructure, partnering with research teams to deploy ROI-driven bidding strategies, and building the backend systems for next-generation AI agents that revolutionize campaign management. This role offers the chance to solve complex distributed systems challenges at massive scale while directly influencing Unity’s revenue growth.</p> <p><strong>What you'll be doing</strong></p> <ul> <li>Improve the efficiency and reliability of core ads delivery and marketplace systems.</li> <li>Optimize real-time feedback mechanisms to ensure high-precision delivery and budget management.</li> <li>Collaborate on the design and implementation of next-generation bidding and ranking algorithms.</li> <li>Develop scalable infrastructure for automated products that enhance the advertiser experience.</li> <li>Partner with cross-functional teams to drive technical innovation and maintain a high bar for system quality.</li> <li>Analyze complex datasets and lead experimentation efforts to optimize performance metrics.</li> </ul> <p><strong>What we're looking for</strong></p> <ul> <li>Scalable Backend Experience: Proven experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems using languages like Java, Go, or Scala.</li> <li>Ad-Tech Domain Knowledge: Proven experience in the ads delivery lifecycle, specifically with pacing controllers, auction mechanics, and delivery funnels.</li> <li>Real-Time Data Processing: Deep familiarity with low-latency data pipelines and stream processing technologies like Kafka, Flink, or Spark.</li> <li>Systems Optimization: Experience building or maintaining control systems, PID controllers, or bid/pricing optimization systems.</li> <li>Analytical Mindset: Proficiency in metric design, experimentation methodologies, and using data to guide architectural decisions.</li> <li>AI/Agentic Interest: (Plus) Experience or a strong interest in building infrastructure to support AI agents or LLM-integrated backend workflows.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Additional information</strong></p> <ul> <li>Relocation support is not available for this position</li> </ul> <p><strong>Benefits</strong><br>At Unity, we want our team members to thrive.
