Department Overview Our Response & Reporting (R&R) Product organization is dedicated to developing and maintaining market-leading, mission-critical CAD and RMS software. These solutions are vital to public safety agencies, which depend on them daily to reduce response times, enhance first responder safety, and streamline essential workflows. Our ultimate goal is to empower public safety agencies to operate efficiently and effectively in their mission to keep communities safe. Job Description The product manager is responsible for managing the product roadmap to ensure it aligns with the product strategy, defining customer and user personas, understanding market needs and trends, and driving release processes for Motorola RMS products. The product manager analyzes the broader portfolio goals and market conditions to lay out a roadmap that is sustainable, differentiated, and delivers unique value, with a keen focus on integrating cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) capabilities into our solutions. The role requires a champion of innovation, leveraging AI tools and methodologies to optimize the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and product operations. The product manager works in close partnership with the product owner in an external-facing role, responsible for understanding the market, customers, competition, and go-to-market activities. The role of the product manager encompasses a wide range of activities, from strategic to tactical, and provides cross-functional leadership by bridging gaps within the company between different functions, particularly between Development, UI/UX, Sales and Marketing, Deployment, and Support. Responsibilities Product Strategy The product manager is responsible for clearly articulating the business value to the product team so they understand the intent behind the new product or product release. They own the roadmap and must work with the product owner to define, prioritize, and build what matters. Primary responsibilities include: Manage the roadmap, prioritizing features that offer AI-driven competitive advantages. Develop business cases, explicitly assessing the ROI and strategic value of AI/ML initiatives. Identify customer needs and market trends, including emerging AI and GenAI applications in public safety. Evaluate competitive intelligence, focusing on their adoption and innovation in AI. Align, track, and drive inter-product dependencies at the roadmap level. Create business plans and proposals for new initiatives, with a strong focus on AI/ML product proposals. Product Visioning The product manager must have the ability to identify and understand customer needs and evaluate those against market size and demand to drive product offerings that will help public safety agencies improve their operations while delivering profitability and customer loyalty. Primary responsibilities include: Collect, curate, and promote the most relevant ideas into features, particularly innovative AI/ML features that redefine public safety workflows. Explore new ways of improving existing services and products as a way of increasing profitability, including applying generative AI or machine learning to enhance service efficiency. Define which ideas should be promoted to features to achieve key objectives for the product line and business.
