ROLE OVERVIEW  As a Sales Development Leader, you'll build and lead the teams that fuel Benchling's pipeline—both our outbound & inbound SDR and ISR motion. You'll hire, coach, and develop early-stage sales professionals who create opportunities with the world's leading biotech companies, then grow them into Benchling's next generation of Account Executives. This role combines strategic thinking with hands-on coaching: you'll optimize processes, scale successful plays, and create a culture where top performers thrive. RESPONSIBILITIES - Build and develop high-performing SDR and ISR teams through effective hiring, coaching, and career development that creates a clear path from SDR to AE - Design and execute scalable outbound and inbound sales development strategies that drive consistent pipeline generation - Partner with Marketing and Sales leadership to optimize lead routing, qualification criteria, and handoff processes that maximize conversion rates - Establish team performance metrics and accountability structures, consistently achieving quarterly targets - Analyze performance data in Salesforce and SalesLoft to identify trends, diagnose issues, and drive continuous improvement - Create motivation systems and incentive programs that drive the right behaviors and celebrate wins - Foster a high-feedback culture where constructive input is delivered immediately and regularly, accelerating individual growth   QUALIFICATIONS - 2-3 years in Sales Development or Inbound Sales at a high-growth SaaS company - 1+ year managing Sales Development teams with a track record of hitting targets - Proven ability to coach sales professionals—you notice the small adjustments that unlock performance and help people level up - Deep operational rigor: you live in Salesforce dashboards, love finding the levers that accelerate growth, and make data-driven decisions - Track record of building repeatable processes that scale as teams grow Nice to have: - Experience in life sciences, healthcare IT, or technical SaaS environments - Familiarity with multi-product or complex buying journeys - Background progressing from SDR → AE → Manager (you've walked the path) - Ability to leverage the MEDDICC sales methodology HOW WE WORK (Will be added for in office roles) Flexible Hybrid Work: We offer a flexible hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes in-office collaboration. Employees are expected to be on-site Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.   SALARY RANGE Benchling takes a market-based approach to pay. The candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, interview performance, and work location. For this role the base salary range is $126,693 to $171,408. However, because this role is eligible to participate in Benchling's commission plan, employees in this role are also eligible to receive additional earnings of $57,587 to $77,912.
