DBA Team Lead

<p>We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Database Reliability Engineering (DBRE) Team Leader to head Wix’s core DBRE team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the reliability, scalability, and performance of Wix’s large-scale database infrastructure and data platforms, while leading and mentoring a team of DBREs.<br> You’ll bring together strong technical expertise and people leadership,&#xa0; defining the vision and standards for database reliability, guiding architectural and system design decisions, and driving operational excellence across our production environments.<br> <br> In your day-to-day, you will:</p><ul><li>&#xa0;Lead, mentor, and grow a team of DBREs, providing technical guidance and career development&#xa0;</li><li>Define and drive the team’s roadmap for database reliability, availability, scalability, and cost efficiency</li><li>Own hundreds of production database clusters (MySQL, MongoDB, etc.) at petabyte scale on Cloud platform</li><li>Oversee the design and optimization of data models, schemas, and database access patterns used by core Wix services</li><li>Establish and promote best practices, standards, and methodologies for database design, operations, observability, and incident management</li><li>Collaborate with other Infra, Security, FinOps, and R&amp;D teams to shape Wix’s databases strategy and long-term technology direction</li><li>Encourage the use of AI and ML-driven tools and analytics for anomaly detection, capacity forecasting, performance optimization and team dev velocity</li><li>&#xa0;Promote automation in database provisioning, configuration, and operations</li></ul> <p>• 10+ years of hands-on 24/7 production experience with MySQL, MongoDB, ElasticSearch and/or other RDBMS/NoSQL data stores&#xa0;</p><p>• Proven team leadership or technical authority experience in large-scale database initiatives&#xa0;</p><p>• Strong expertise in databases solution architecture, HA, backups, DR, and performance tuning&#xa0;</p><p>• Practical experience with AWS and/or GCP data products and cloud-native architectures</p><p>• Deep knowledge of Linux systems</p><p>• Passion for automation and reliability engineering</p><p>• Strong background with monitoring and observability tools and methodologies</p><p>• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across multiple domains</p> <p>Wix’s Database Platform Group consists of talented database and DevOps engineers who manage hundreds of MySQL, MongoDB, and ElasticSearch production clusters, totaling petabytes of data hosted on AWS. The DBRE team sits at the heart of this group, focusing on reliability, performance, and operational excellence of Wix’s data platforms. We partner closely with Systems Engineers, DevOps, Security, and R&amp;D teams to build, scale, and safeguard the data infrastructure that powers Wix’s products.</p>
