Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.</p></div><p></p> <p><strong>MECHANICAL ENGINEER, INFRASTRUCTURE</strong></p> <p>Our elite Starbase team is working on the toughest and most audacious project on our planet; making humanity multiplanetary. This challenge isn’t for everyone – the working conditions can be hard on a desolate beach at the southernmost tip of the state – but hardcore projects require hardcore people.</p> <p>This engineer will support the team responsible for building and upgrading facilities and GSE to develop a high-volume rocket factory. If you are a high performing engineer, want to immerse yourself in never-before-solved challenges, and are excited to put in the effort to make this goal a reality, we want to hear from you.</p> <p><strong>RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Lead MEP design and coordination for residential, commercial, and industrial projects</li> <li>Partner with cross-departmental teams to define requirements and derive design details</li> <li>Prepare and review design drawings and documents for mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems and specifications for a variety of engineering projects</li> <li>Manage construction activities related to MEP systems, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements</li> <li>Use construction/engineering knowledge to expedite the design process and solve conflicts during construction</li> <li>Write and manage construction contracts with subcontractors across multiple disciplines through contract close-out</li> <li>Perform project control tasks, including project scheduling, budgeting, and cost control</li> <li>Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real time</li> <li>Oversee and own full lifecycle of tasks and/or projects to achieve on-time and under budget delivery with customer satisfaction. The following project management responsibilities are applicable: <ul> <li>Manage tools and folder systems relating to the organization of our construction projects</li> <li>Provide budgetary costs based upon the preliminary scope of the project</li> <li>Gather proposals from architects, engineers and contractors; assign contracts upon receipt of all proposals</li> <li>Develop the final cost and schedule for the project, and implement controls as needed to manage cost, schedule and scope</li> <li>Facilitate city, county, and governmental approvals</li> <li>Coordinate project implementation and track project status</li> <li>Work with the facilities team and customers in order to operationalize the post-construction building operations and maintenance functions</li> <li>Coordinate with customer and facilities teams for building operations and maintenance</li> <li>Manage night shift contractors as project work requires</li> <li>Take on new projects ad-hoc as the business needs</li> </ul> </li> <li>Coordinate permit acquisition/closeout with permitting team</li> </ul> <p><strong>BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, or structural engineering</li> <li>1+ years of experience creating structural, civil, or MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) construction documents including plans, elevations, sections, and details</li> </ul> <p><strong>PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Proven ability to manage multiple projects, think critically, and drive successful outcomes</li> <li>Possess the mentality of extreme ownership.
