We are seeking an Account Director to join Edelman’s Reputation practice in Toronto. The Reputation practice advises organizations on how they build, protect, and sustain trust with stakeholders across moments of opportunity, change, and risk. You will play an account leadership role across reputation mandates, with a primary focus on corporate communications, enterprise reputation, leadership positioning, and stakeholder engagement. You will work closely with senior leaders across the Reputation team and collaborate with colleagues who bring deep industry expertise — including areas such as Technology, Financial Services, Energy or Infrastructure — to deliver integrated, high quality reputation programs. Client & Reputation Leadership You will play a senior leadership role across reputation focused client work. Act as a day-to-day client contact, leading defined workstreams and supporting overall account strategy. Help shape and deliver corporate communications and reputation strategies grounded in business priorities and stakeholder expectations. Support executive positioning, thought leadership, and leadership visibility programs. Ensure high-quality delivery across messaging, materials, timelines, and outputs. Identify emerging reputation considerations and escalate risks or opportunities to senior team members. Cross Practice & Sector Collaboration You will collaborate closely across Edelman to deliver integrated reputation counsel. Work with colleagues across public affairs, earned media, digital, analytics, and industry teams to deliver coordinated reputation programs. Partner with teams supporting industry specific clients (for example, Technology, Financial Services, Energy or Infrastructure) to ensure reputation strategies reflect sector dynamics, risks, and opportunities. Contribute to integrated campaign planning and execution, ensuring reputation considerations are embedded throughout. Support issues related work as part of broader reputation mandates, under the guidance of senior leaders. Team Leadership & Operational Excellence Lead day-to-day account teams, ensuring clarity of roles, strong collaboration, and consistent quality. Manage workflow, timelines, and resourcing across assigned accounts and workstreams. Provide coaching and feedback to junior team members, supporting development in writing, strategic thinking, and client service. Support budget tracking, forecasting, and scope management, flagging risks early. Practice Contribution & Growth Contribute to Reputation practice initiatives, including knowledge sharing, internal projects, and capability building. Support business development efforts, including pitch development and organic growth opportunities. Build strong cross‑practice and cross‑office relationships that support One Edelman collaboration. Qualifications 6+ years of progressive experience in strategic communications, ideally in an agency environment. Experience supporting and leading day‑to‑day account work across corporate communications and reputation programs. Strong writing, messaging, and presentation skills, with experience simplifying complex issues for diverse audiences. Comfort operating in fast‑moving environments and supporting senior‑level counsel. Solid project and financial management skills, including budget tracking and forecasting.
