Business Development Manager OUR MISSION To become the car-changing destination of choice. By combining technology, media and deep automotive expertise, we’ve transformed how people buy, sell, advertise and lease cars. What started as a simple reviews site is now one of Europe’s largest car-changing platforms. Over 10 million customers have used carwow to buy and sell cars, with £3bn worth of cars bought and £1.8bn listed for sale last year alone. In 2024, we acquired Autovia - creators of Auto Express and evo - doubling our audience overnight. Today, our brands reach over 350 million users annually and generate 1.1bn+ YouTube views, influencing how millions of drivers choose their next car. And we’re a long way from done. GYC ADVERTISING @ CARWOW This role sits within GYC (Get Your Car) Advertising, a fast-growing commercial team responsible for scaling Carwow’s Used and New Car Advertising business. The two markets are at very different stages: - New Car Advertising is a mature, high-performing product with strong market fit and limited competition. - Used Car Advertising is an emerging channel - competitive, fast-moving, and still being proven. We operate like a startup within a startup: - small team - high ownership - evolving products and processes - limited structure by design As a BDM, you’ll be one of the people defining how this business grows - both in how we sell, and in how we decide when not to. YOUR MISSION Your mission is to build and convert a cold-generated pipeline for Used Car Advertising, selling with commercial judgement in a fast-changing and volatile market. You’ll be expected to: - create your own momentum - run credible, outcome-led sales conversations - close deals honestly and responsibly With scope to expand into New Car Advertising as the business matures. ROLE REALITY This is not a traditional enterprise BDM role. - Pipeline is self-generated and cold - Sales cycles are short and transactional - We are one channel among others, not the dominant marketplace - The product is new and evolving - The team operates like a startup within a startup - Market shifts can wipe pipeline overnight - restarting from zero is part of the job - Targets are real, measurable, and owned end-to-end If you need warm leads, long deal cycles, or heavy structure - this role will not be a good fit. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES GENERATE AND CONVERT COLD PIPELINE - Prospect independently via phone, email, and LinkedIn - Work opportunities generated by a newly built BDR function (limited volume) - Qualify hard and move fast SELL USED CAR ADVERTISING PROPERLY - Anchor conversations on: - ROI - Profit per unit - Stock turn - Finance penetration - Control and enquiry quality - Position carwow honestly as an emerging channel - Avoid brand-led or feature-led selling OPERATE WITH JUDGEMENT AND DISCIPLINE - Decide quickly what to progress - and what to drop - Be comfortable restarting pipeline from zero - Own targets for pipeline creation and revenue WORK CROSS-FUNCTIONALLY - Partner with BDRs, Marketing, and Partner Success for clean handovers - Feed market insight back into proposition and product iteration KEY REQUIREMENTS - Comfortable generating pipeline from scratch - Strong commercial judgement and decision-making - Able to use numbers naturally in sales conversations - Calm and credible under rejection or pushback - Comfortable operating in ambiguity and change - High ownership and accountability BONUS POINTS - Experience selling into automotive retail or marketplaces - Exposure to performance-led or ROI-driven products - Experience selling emerging or evolving solutions WHY THIS MIGHT NOT BE FOR YOU - If you rely on warm inbound demand - If you need a fully mature product to sell - If you avoid uncomfortable commercial conversations - If you prefer structure and certainty over ownership FINAL NOTE This role is for people who want to build something real - in a ...
