The role
The Senior Employment Statutory Specialist is the authoritative owner of statutory employment obligations across
jurisdictions , ensuring employer and employee statutory responsibilities are correctly understood,
anticipated , and operationalized across payroll, travel expenses, equity, and mobility. The role prevents late discovery of liabilities through audits, penalties, employee impact, or reputational damage by embedding statutory logic into operating models and controls.
Your responsibilities will include:
Interpret employment-related statutory requirements (income tax, social security, pensions, insurance, labor-related funds) across relevant
jurisdictions .
Define statutory positions and thresholds (including cross-border and shadow payroll triggers) and approve how they are applied in payroll/TE/equity execution.
Act as
escalation
point for ambiguous or high-risk statutory scenarios; drive mitigation plans and external advice when needed.
Translate statutory obligations into operational guidance, controls, and system-ready requirements for Payroll, TE, Equity, and HR Ops.
Support statutory audits/inspections and authority inquiries; prepare defensible documentation and coordinate responses.
Monitor statutory change and assess impact on employment models, policies, and system logic; prevent compliance gaps.
Partner with Global Mobility, Legal, Tax, and Finance on cross-border cases (remote work, travel thresholds, assignments).
Build reusable
knowledge
artifacts (playbooks, decision trees, evidence standards) to reduce key-person dependency.
We expect you to have:
6+
years experience
in employment tax/statutory compliance, payroll compliance, or global mobility/statutory advisory (in-house or firm).
Demonstrated multi- jurisdiction
statutory
interpretation
capability and strong judgment under uncertainty.
Hands-on experience operationalizing statutory requirements into processes/controls (not only advisory memos).
Experience supporting audits or
authority
interactions with clear, defensible documentation.
Ability to work cross-functionally with Payroll, TE, Equity, HR, Finance, and Legal to drive adoption of statutory positions.
Strong written communication—can turn complex statutory topics into clear guidance for execution teams.
It will be an added bonus if you have:
Professional qualification in tax/payroll/compliance (where relevant to
jurisdiction ) or equivalent experience.
Experience with equity taxation/withholding and benefits-in-kind frameworks.
Experience implementing governance frameworks (risk register, tiered exception handling, evidence packs).
