About the Role: At Rocket Growth, our mission is – Rocket Growth strives to offer Coupang customers the best available selection and the lowest possible price and provide Coupang sellers the utmost convenience of selling. We are seeking an experienced hands-on leader as a Senior Software Engineering Manager to join us to take the business to the next level. We are also looking for a tech leader with a proven track record of designing and building large-scale distributed systems preferably with a background in the E-commerce space. You will be a team leader who will lead the development for improving the Marketplace platform's scalability, reliability, availability, extensibility, and performance. As we continue to scale and innovate, you will be working in a fast-paced environment along with a team of smart and passionate global engineers to design and implement various systems to meet the needs of the Rocket Growth business. What You Will Do : As the SDM, you will: Lead an agile team of developers to build scalable, stable, and maintainable software systems, while driving architectural decisions and engineering best practices. Recruit, hire, and develop talent through mentoring, 1:1 coaching, and career‑growth support. Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to understand and prioritise requirements, shape the roadmap, and deliver high‑quality solutions. Define and report key engineering metrics, ensuring strong execution across development, implementation, and operations. Drive continuous improvement, standardisation, and optimisation of engineering and business processes. Communicate effectively across users, technical teams, and leadership to define product features, influence strategy, and guide complex software from concept to delivery. Serve as a thought leader with broad technical expertise—spanning front‑end to back‑end—focused on building customer‑centric, innovative, and simple solutions. Skills Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field with 10+ years of experience. At least 2+ years of experience leading a software development team through multiple product / platform releases. Experience mentoring junior software engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective software engineers Experience building and operating distributed systems that are highly available. Professional coding experience using modern programming language such as Java, Scala, Kotlin, C++, C#, etc.; strong object-oriented design and algorithmic analysis background.
