We are headquartered in Seattle, WA The Job We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Director of Data Science to join our technology team. This is a unique opportunity to lead a small, high-impact team at the heart of our mission. You will directly influence our product, our service delivery, and our ability to accelerate clean energy adoption. Here is an outline of some of the things you’ll be doing: Team Leadership & Strategy (40%) Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of data scientists and ML engineers Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and rapid delivery Develop and execute the data science roadmap and strategy, aligned with company goals Set clear priorities and measure impact against KPIs Operationalizing Data Science (35%) Integrate predictive and prescriptive analytics into core technology and processes Architect and oversee scalable, production-ready data pipelines and ML models Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Operations to prioritize and execute high-value opportunities Industry Influence & Thought Leadership (25%) Serve as a subject matter expert in renewable energy data science Represent Omnidian at industry events, conferences, and with key stakeholders Advocate for best practices in data science and ML deployment Engage directly with clients to understand needs, present insights, and demonstrate value Who You Are Strategic Leadership – Guides team vision while delivering measurable results Technical Excellence – Deep expertise in ML, statistical modeling, and experimentation Cross-Functional Collaboration – Communicates effectively across technical and non-technical teams Execution Focus – Turns strategy into scalable, operational solutions Mission-Driven Mindset – Passionate about clean energy and sustainability Experience You’ll Need Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics) or equivalent practical experience; advanced degree is a plus. 7+ years of experience in data science, with a proven track record of building and deploying models in a production environment 4+ years of experience in data science leadership, building and managing data science teams Proven experience building and scaling data science teams from the ground up Deep expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, and experimental design. Strong programming skills in Python and expertise with a relevant data science stacks (e.g., pandas, etc). Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP) and big data technologies (e.g., Apache Spark). Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
