About Pacific Fusion Pacific Fusion was founded in 2023 with the mission to power the world with abundant, affordable, clean energy. We are rapidly designing and building a pulsed magnetic fusion system to achieve net facility gain (more fusion energy output than stored energy input). Why This Role Matters Pacific Fusion’s experimental group is developing the scientific diagnostics that will enable testing and improving our fusion targets on our Demonstration System in order to demonstrate facility gain for the first time. These diagnostics measure the nuclear, x-ray, and optical outputs of a fusion target. This role will work with our scientists in the Lab to develop novel x-ray diagnostics. What You'll Do Perform tests of novel high-energy x-ray detectors and optics in our on-site x-ray generator laboratory Analyze and interpret the data What You Bring Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or higher education Previous experience with basic laboratory equipment Additional Requirements: Able to work full time, onsite for a minimum of 10 consecutive weeks beginning in June 2026 Bonus Points For Previous experience with x-ray detectors Experience programming in python 6+ months of a previous internship, co-op, or academic project experience outside of normal classes GPA of 3.5 or above What We Offer Real resume building scientific experience Mentorship from experienced professionals Exposure to the full product development lifecycle A collaborative and learning-focused work environment An unforgettable summer!
