Payments & Treasury at Preply are integral to the operation of our platform and the value we deliver to our community of students and tutors. Our Payments & Treasury team helps maintain trust in our platform and we strive to continually improve upon our student and tutor experience. Operating globally the development and maintenance of a thoughtful financial foundation; banking infrastructure, payment partnerships, risk management, governance and controls all play a part in delivering our services while supporting our scale. As our first Director of Payments & Treasury, you will enhance the financial operating model that makes our Payments and Cash Management a strategic advantage. This is a role requiring a leader who can build a foundation of controls, manage global liquidity, and evolve the breadth of our Payments ecosystem. You will lead the treasury operations directly and partner with a group of talented tech and product teams that bring payments to life for our community. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING - Partner with other teams to develop Preply’s Payments strategy, identifying opportunities to maximise revenue through both short and long term payment optimisation levers. - Drive operational excellence across the payment platform in both pay-ins and payouts - Support the broader Payments team as the Treasury subject matter expert in discussions with banks, acquirers, and processors, leading strategic initiatives - Build and own relationships with banking partners and Payment Service Providers (PSPs), including negotiating commercial agreements and managing the partnership lifecycle - Manage cash flows and requirements on a subsidiary-level basis including long-term cash forecasting and developing cash concentration and pooling structures - Act as the primary partner for Corporate Development, Tax, and Business Groups on M&A due diligence, deal planning, cash flow funding strategy, and intercompany movements, ensuring flawless execution of funding wires WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED - Minimum 10 years of experience with a background in Corporate Treasury or Payments Operations with a focus on liquidity and risk management, or extensive experience in high-volume Payments Operations within e-commerce - Deep understanding of cash management, FX, cross-border payments, and banking products and structures - Proven track record of scaling treasury strategy and operations, particularly in a two-sided marketplace. - Experience negotiating commercial agreements and driving cost reductions with payment providers - Strong quantitative and analytical problem-solving skills, including proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting.
