We’re looking for a Machine Learning Engineering Manager to join our London team. In this role, you’ll lead the teams responsible for the "moment of truth" in delivery, ensuring our delivery network remains the most efficient in the world through high-stakes algorithmic systems. This role is based in our London office with a hybrid setup, typically 3 days in the office. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING You’ll be joining the Logistics and Consumer Signals team. This group sits at the intersection of real-world physics and real-time computation, managing the complex variables that impact food quality, delivery speed, and customer trust. Here’s what your day-to-day might look like: - Lead and develop a team of Machine Learning Engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and experimentation. - Optimise Handover Logistics by building models that synchronise rider dispatch with food preparation, ensuring orders are collected at the peak of freshness. - Own Consumer Signals, managing the ML systems that communicate network status, including highly accurate delivery time estimates (ETAs) and dynamic availability. - Balance the Marketplace by taking responsibility for core delivery performance metrics, managing surge requirements, and real-time restaurant ranking. - Drive Production Excellence, translating "noisy" real-world delivery data into robust, production-grade ML and optimisation systems. - Partner cross-functionally with Product Managers and Operations teams to frame problems, deploy global solutions, and iterate based on real-world impact. WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO THRIVE We are looking for a pragmatic, impact-focused leader who understands that in global logistics, "done" is often better than "theoretically perfect." - Proven People Leadership: Significant experience line managing Machine Learning Engineers, with a track record of coaching and career development. - Technical Depth: Hands-on experience building and deploying ML or optimisation systems into production at scale. - Domain Expertise: A strong background in logistics, supply chain, network optimisation, or consumer-facing real-time systems. - Operational Pragmatism: Comfort operating in fast-changing environments with noisy data and the ability to make difficult technical trade-offs. - Collaborative Mindset: Demonstrated ability to work within "Product Squads" alongside engineers and operational stakeholders to deliver business value.
