Software Development Engineer II 🎯 CORE MISSION In this critical role, you will assume a position of significant technical responsibility, acting as the primary driver for transforming high-level product designs and architectural specifications into robust, maintainable, and highly efficient code. Your expertise will be essential in translating abstract concepts and user stories into tangible, scalable software solutions. A primary function of your position involves leading the entire implementation lifecycle for critical product features. This encompasses everything from initial technical assessment and environment setup to coding, comprehensive unit and integration testing, and deployment support. You will be expected to enforce best practices in code hygiene, performance optimization, and security across your projects. Furthermore, you are expected to be an active and vocal contributor to the technical direction of the team. This involves providing timely, precise, and actionable technical feedback to the Senior Engineers and the Head of Engineering. Your tactical insights into current implementation challenges, technology selection, and potential risks will directly influence engineering decisions and the long-term health of our codebase. Your contributions will help shape the technical roadmap and ensure that the team is always employing the most effective and modern engineering strategies. 🔑 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & OWNERSHIP - End-to-End Feature Leadership: Drive the full lifecycle of complex product features, from initial technical investigation and high-level design through to high-quality implementation, deployment, and ongoing production health monitoring. - Technical Implementation & Code Excellence: Write clean, efficient, and well-tested production code. Set and enforce high standards for code quality across the team through rigorous code reviews and mentorship of Junior and Mid-level engineers. - Low-Level Design (LLD) Mastery: Own the creation and review of detailed Low-Level Designs (LLD) for core system components and features, specifying data models, performance targets, and comprehensive API contracts. Report design progress and technical trade-offs directly to the Head of Engineering. - Architectural Contribution & POCs: Actively collaborate with Senior and Principal Engineers on architectural decision-making. Independently research and evaluate new technologies by leading Proof-of-Concepts (POCs) to mitigate early technical risks and propose scalable solutions. - Operational Excellence & Reliability: Take direct and proactive ownership of the operational health, monitoring, alerting, and performance of all owned features. Participate in and lead incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for critical production issues. 💡 MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS - 4-5 years of professional experience in software development, preferably in a fast-paced environment. - Solid understanding of system design principles and experience with relational/NoSQL databases. - Proficiency in a modern software development language and framework. - Demonstrated ability to take a feature from a concept/specification to a production-ready state with a high degree of autonomy. - A strong, demonstrable passion for clean code, unit testing, and continuous delivery. ⚡Nice-to-Have Qualifications - Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes). - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation tools. - Prior experience in a startup environment or working with high-scale distributed systems. - Knowledge of advanced data structures, algorithms, and performance optimization techniques. - Experience with specific technologies relevant to the role (e.g., distributed caching systems like Redis/Memcached, message queues like Kafka/RabbitMQ).
