About the Role As a Platform Engineer – Bare Metal & OpenStack Infrastructure at Taikun, you will be responsible for everything between bare-metal hardware and OpenStack. This includes OS provisioning, datacenter networking configuration, hardware lifecycle management, and integration with OpenStack. You will ensure that the underlying infrastructure supporting OpenStack is reliable, automated, and optimized for performance. As a Senior Staff Platform Engineer: Provision and configure bare-metal servers for OpenStack environments. Automate OS installations, updates, and configurations using Ansible. Design and maintain datacenter networking for OpenStack, including VLANs, BGP, and routing. Troubleshoot hardware, networking, and OS-level issues impacting OpenStack. Collaborate with the OpenStack team to ensure seamless integration with the underlying infrastructure. Monitor and optimize performance at the hardware and network layers. Maintain documentation for provisioning processes, network designs, and troubleshooting procedures. We are excited about you if you have: 8 years of relevant experience. Proven experience with bare-metal provisioning and lifecycle management. Strong Linux system administration skills. Proficiency with Ansible for automation and configuration management. Experience with datacenter networking concepts and hardware (switches, routers, firewalls). Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerized environments. Understanding of how OpenStack interacts with physical and network infrastructure. Good collaboration and communication skills. You may also have: Experience with MAAS, Ironic, or other bare-metal provisioning tools. Knowledge of monitoring and logging solutions for hardware and networking. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). Contributions to open-source infrastructure projects. Additional Information This role may include participating in a rotational on-call schedule to respond to urgent hardware or networking issues. On-call duties are shared across the team and are compensated or offset according to company policy. This role is not eligible for relocation or visa sponsorship.
