With a user base of thousands of developers, SREs, and customer support engineers, we currently support petabytes of monthly log volume across our cloud-native environments, ultimately giving our customers the insights they need to take action.</p> <h3><strong>The Role:</strong></h3> <p>Mezmo is hiring a Controller to own day-to-day accounting and bring structure, clarity, and consistency to the finance function during a critical growth phase. Reporting to the VP of Finance, this role oversees the close, manages vendors, consultants, and external partners, and keeps core accounting operations running smoothly.</p> <p>This is a hands-on role for someone who likes to simplify, make decisions, and improve processes without over-engineering. You’ll partner closely with the Head of Finance, who owns FPA, Accounting, People and Business Operations, serving as a steady, practical voice as Mezmo continues to scale efficiently as a fast-growing, VC-backed SaaS company.</p> <h3><strong>What You’ll Do:</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Own the monthly close and general ledger, ensuring accurate, timely financials</li> <li>Oversee billing, revenue, AR, AP, and cash management, with support from contractors and external partners</li> <li>Manage the outsourced accounting firm and hold vendors accountable to clear timelines and quality standards</li> <li>Own banking relationships and cash controls, including monthly compliance and certifications</li> <li>Coordinate payroll through an external vendor, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance</li> <li>Own commission calculations and entries for Sales and Customer Success</li> <li>Maintain and own the cap table in Carta, including option grants, exercises, cancellations, and 409A coordination</li> <li>Manage corporate insurance programs and key compliance items</li> <li>Support state and federal tax filings in partnership with external advisors</li> <li>Lead and manage third-party consultants, providing direction, prioritization, and quality control</li> <li>Improve accounting processes and reduce complexity over time—bringing order and stability first, then efficiency</li> <li>Partner closely with the VP of Finance to support a lean, technology-forward finance function as the business scales</li> </ul> <h3><strong>What We’re Looking For:</strong></h3> <ul> <li>8+ years of experience in accounting or finance, including time as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Senior Accounting Manager, or similar.</li> <li>Experience working in a high-growth SaaS, tech, or VC-backed company, ideally on a lean finance team.</li> <li>Hands-on ownership of day-to-day accounting, including AP, payroll oversight, revenue support, commissions, and general ledger work.</li> <li>Experience managing cap tables and equity administration (Carta experience preferred).</li> <li>Comfortable using systems such as Bill.com, Ramp, Zip, or other cloud-based accounting systems.</li> <li>Experience owning banking relationships, credit facilities, and compliance or audit-related requirements.</li> <li>Working knowledge of state and local tax compliance, with experience partnering with external tax providers.</li> <li>A track record of simplifying processes, improving accuracy, and keeping things moving in fast-paced environments.</li> <li>Experience managing or coordinating consultants, contractors, or outsourced partners.</li> <li>Clear, practical communicator who partners well with finance leadership, cross-functional teams, and outside advisors.</li> <li>Comfortable stepping into an execution-focused role that blends hands-on work with light team leadership.</li> <li>Interest in broader business partnership or FPA exposure is a plus.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Compensa ...
