Meet PomPom Health is redesigning the healthcare system around the joys of food. We empower every clinician to prescribe patients how to eat and live as a part of the standard of care.130 million Americans are battling chronic diseases directly linked to what they eat. Heart disease, diabetes, obesity, the list goes on. These conditions represent 85% of our $4 trillion healthcare spend, yet doctors have no systematic way to prescribe nutrition — the root cause intervention.We’re fixing that at Pom. We partner directly with doctors to prescribe flavorful, personalized, and culturally-competent nutrition care — delivered by our high-quality dietitians and AI-powered coaching — all embedded in existing clinical care pathways. We make food a critical part of the care plan, not a side note.We're a multi-disciplinary, mission-obsessed team clinicians, technologists, and operators who is trying to make a difference in one of the most important problems in our country (currently 15 people including clinicians). We’re live with our first practice customers and have served hundreds of happy patients to date.If you believe in our mission and want to impact millions of people in need with the technology you build, we’d love to meet!About the RoleAs our Founding Engineer, you’ll be a co-architect in everything we’re building at Pom. This isn’t just an engineering role — you’ll have real ownership in shaping the foundation at Pom: product to platform to team culture.You’ll work with closely with the founders and the rest of the early team to:🏗️ Help build our core product. With help, you’ll build the engine and platform that combines high-touch nutrition therapy with AI coaching and delightful food content, guiding patients through bite-sized changes that make an impact.🔌 Integrate seamlessly into clinical pathways. You’ll work on integrations that makes Pom accessible at the point-of-care at practices and hospitals.🚀 Prepare to scale reliably. Make the right foundational technical decisions that allow us to both experiment nimbly and scale.👥 Set the tone for our engineering team. Together, we’ll build a technology org that’s high-caliber, humble, team-oriented, and mission-driven.We get excited if you:Have 4+ years of backend-heavy or fullstack software engineering experienceWe’re open to varying YoE/seniority - we have work for all skills and sizes!Are excited to help scale an early-stage startup, including building a high-performance, patient-centric, and team-first cultureHave built and launched early-stage products — ideally in a startup environmentAre a self-starter — excited to get in the weeds and proactively take on important problems for the businessCare deeply about user experience and product quality (i.e. open to doing user interviews, helping define requirements)Are passionate about increasing the role of food and nutrition in the US healthcare systemAre based in the NYC metro area (Tuesdays and Thursdays in-office required)Bonus points for experience in building AI/ML or personalization systems, care delivery platforms, or EHR integrationsCompensationEveryone who joins our early team is critical to our success.
