Role Overview As an Accountant at Credence Advisors, you will manage a portfolio of business clients and support their day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close processes. This role goes beyond transactional accounting, requiring strong analytical skills and the ability to translate financial data into meaningful insights that support client decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the full monthly close process for assigned clients, including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and preparation of financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow Statement). Serve as the primary accounting point of contact for clients, resolving accounting inquiries, clarifying transactions, and supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable processes. Maintain and oversee AP and AR processes, ensuring accuracy, aging monitoring, and cash flow visibility. Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow modeling, and ad-hoc financial analysis. Prepare financial documentation for audits, tax filings, and due diligence processes, coordinating with external advisors when required.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Experience: 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience in a multi-client environment, preferably within a U.S.-based accounting firm. Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online and/or other cloud-based accounting systems. Solid experience with month-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation. Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll interfaces, and vendor management.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to turn financial data into strategic insights. Excellent communication skills and a client-service orientation. Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple clients and deadlines. High levels of integrity, accuracy, and reliability.
Preferred Qualifications
CPA certification or currently in progress. Experience working with high-growth companies or startup-like environments. Hands-on experience with budgeting and forecasting tools, KPI dashboards, and cash flow models. Exposure to financial due diligence for M&A transactions, capital raising processes, or fractional CFO services (financial planning and strategy, financial analysis, and process implementation). Prior experience at a U.S. accounting firm.
