I love what I do, and a big part is because of AMBOSS.” Why can this position be exciting for you? - Senior/ Mid-level Fullstack Engineer in the Shop Team –This team sits at the heart of our mission, building the gateway that allows medical students around the world to be able to access the AMBOSS platform. In this team, your work has a direct, measurable impact on revenue and user discovery. Whether you are prototyping a bold new hypothesis or scaling a high-availability payment service, you will be defining how the world buys AMBOSS. You will: - Ramp Up: Become a domain expert in AMBOSS’s shop and payment architecture, from the purchase experience to international tax compliance. - Ship Impact: Deliver end-to-end features and improvements from discovery to deployment. That could be shipping a real product on shop or providing a localized, frictionless checkout experience for our global users. - Collaborate: Build deep working relationships with Product, Design, and Finance stakeholders. - Build & Iterate: Design and evolve high-availability services handling regional payment methods and subscription logic. - Own the Lifecycle: Manage discovery, technical design, deployment, and monitoring. - Innovate with AI: Use tools like Cursor or Copilot and research how emerging technologies (LLMs, automation) can add genuine user value. - Scale: Extend existing systems to support new markets and medical disciplines while maintaining clean integration with core infrastructure. You Bring: - Go (Golang): Strong backend fundamentals (concurrency, API design, error handling). - React & TypeScript: Solid foundations for building intuitive, responsive frontends. - API Design: Experience with GraphQL and/or REST. - Ops & Observability: Hands-on experience with Docker, CI/CD, and AWS/Kubernetes. You write your own tests and read your own dashboards. - Architectural Intuition: The ability to deconstruct complex codebases and (for Seniors) design data models at scale. - Product-Minded: You care about why we build, focusing on user impact and business value over technical complexity for its own sake. - Pragmatic: You know when to ship a quick proof-of-concept and when to invest in long-term stability. - AI-Native: You are comfortable with (and excited by) AI-assisted development. - Comfort with Ambiguity: You can make sound decisions even when requirements are still evolving. Nice to Haves - Experience with Payment Providers (Stripe, Adyen, Braintree). - Understanding of International Tax or fintech compliance. - Exposure to Event-driven architectures or message queues. - Previous work with LLM integration or AI-powered features.
