The Role Moderna is seeking a Vice President of Medical Affairs to lead our overarching strategic guidance for the Asia markets medical initiatives while also leading the country medical initiatives in Singapore. This pivotal role requires a visionary leader with the acumen to not only oversee Medical Affairs activities in Singapore, but also to shape the entire region's medical landscape in alignment with Moderna’s global healthcare ambitions. Here’s What You’ll Do Strategic Regional Leadership Design and champion the overarching Medical Affairs plan for infectious diseases across the Asia markets, with an initial focus on COVID-19 as well as future vaccination initiatives in alignment with global strategy. Build and lead medical teams across the region, fostering a culture of scientific excellence integrity that exceeds regulatory standards and operational procedures. Engage with external stakeholders, including healthcare authorities, payers, and scientific communities, to advance medical research and implementation strategies. Orchestrate comprehensive regional insight and scientific leadership activities to support clinical development and the adoption of innovative vaccination approaches. Shape the external environment in conjunction with policy to allow for scientific excellence and appropriate Medical Affairs Activities. Create a roadmap for establishing future local and country medical teams in Asia, including process and systems to ensure that medical information requests from healthcare professionals are addressed and aligned with the global scientific response documents and training materials in a timely manner. Drive the medical innovation agenda in terms of people skillset and digital strategy vision. Country-Specific Strategic Oversight (Singapore) Strategically steer Singapore's Medical Affairs strategy and operations, ensuring it reflects the country’s unique healthcare system and patient population. Develop and maintain strategic relationships with local healthcare practitioners, regulatory authorities, and health institutions to gather and shape country-specific insights. Lead the strategic direction of medical affairs contributions to reimbursement submissions, procurement agreements, and tenders specific to Singapore. Serve as Moderna’s representative within Singapore, elevating our profile and influence through high-profile industry associations, media interactions and external engagements. Cross-Functional Collaboration Drive alignment between global and regional Medical Affairs strategies, collaborating with key stakeholders from Commercial and Clinical Development to ensure a cohesive strategy. Participate in health economics and outcomes research engagements with national payers and regulatory agencies, in close coordination with RWE and Market Access teams. Oversee the management of compassionate use requests and patient access programs, setting industry benchmarks for patient care and ethical standards. Collaborate with the Global Head of Medical Operations to drive the implementation of digital strategy. Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications) M.D. or equivalent degree from a recognized Medical School (advanced degree and a current license to practice are a plus). Minimum 15 years of experience in the global pharmaceutical industry in Clinical Development and/or Medical Affairs with a demonstrated successful track record. Experience in vaccine clinical development and medical affairs. Proven leadership skills, including the ability to train and develop talent and create a high-performing team. Strong prioritization, decision-making, and organizational skills. Proven expertise in engaging with scientific leaders and other key stakeholders, preferably in the field of Vaccines.
