This hands-on role sits within Moderna’s CMC Quantitative Sciences (CMC QS) team and plays a key part in shaping the future of data-driven decision-making within our manufacturing and technical operations. As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll own the development and enhancement of analytics infrastructure—building robust data pipelines, workflow automations, and visualization tools that support GMP and development production. You’ll work with highly complex datasets from platforms such as MES, DeltaV, OSI PI, SAP, LIMS, and internally built systems. Your work will directly support Moderna’s Technical Development, MS&T, Quality, and Manufacturing groups by providing actionable data insights, statistical tools, and automated solutions to drive continuous improvement. With exposure to digital manufacturing platforms and opportunities to contribute to the integration of cutting-edge Generative AI tools, this is a high-impact role for a data engineer passionate about practical applications in biotechnology. Here’s What You’ll Do Your key responsibilities will be: Partnering with cross-functional teams in Technical Development, Manufacturing, and Quality to deliver process-data-driven dashboards, analytical tools, and operational solutions. Designing and maintaining robust data pipelines, including intake workflows, contextualization layers, and validated analytics systems. Building and deploying statistical tools for operational and investigational analytics—such as SPC, multivariate analysis, and automated reporting frameworks. Investigating manufacturing issues using advanced data techniques, communicating findings clearly and effectively to technical stakeholders. Your responsibilities will also include: Collaborating on the implementation of new digital platforms and analytics solutions, including defining requirements, participating in design discussions, and supporting computer systems validation. Championing consistent data analytics and statistical methodologies across the CMC QS organization. Troubleshooting production data issues, identifying opportunities to optimize workflow reliability and efficiency. Informally mentoring colleagues and partners on analytics best practices.
