Job Description: A Radiology Practitioner Assistant (RPA) or Registered Radiologist Assistant (RRA) is an advanced practice provider (APP) certified and registered in radiography and is credentialed by the Certification Board for Radiology Practitioner Assistants (CBRPA) and/or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) to provide primary health care services in medical imaging with physician supervision*. Within the physician/RPA relationship and under the supervision, guidance and discretion of the supervising physician RPAs exercise autonomy in decision making in the role of a primary health care provider with regard to patient assessment, patient management and in providing a broad range of radiology diagnostic and interventional services. Essential Functions During morning report, the RPA will evaluate the day’s schedule of procedures with the supervising physician and other imaging staff to determine where his/her skills will be best utilized. Evaluate medical images, review preliminary reports and images with a supervising physician, and prepare technical reports that will be reviewed and signed off by the supervising physician. Assess and evaluate the physiologic and psychological responsiveness of each patient. Participate in patient management, following review with the supervising physician. The RPA, after demonstrating competency and under the guidance, supervision* and discretion of the supervising physician, will perform the following list of procedures Direct Pneumocentesis Thoracentesis Abscess Drain Aspiration Paracentesis Lymph Node Biopsy Thyroid Biopsy Bone Biopsy Lumbar Puncture Arthrogram/Joint Injections PICC Line Placement Chest Tube Placement Central Line Placement Indirect Cystogram VCUG Nephrostogram Loopogram Hysterosalpingogram Modified Rehab Swallow Esophagram Upper GI & Lower GI Studies Small Bowel Follow Through Port Injections Port Removals Removal Tunneled Catheter General Order placement for procedures Pre-procedure notes History and Physical What you’ll bring. Skills Patient Care Customer Service Patient Flow Clinical Staffing and Support Life Support Health Care IV Insertion Required Qualifications Education Be a graduate of an educational program recognized by the CBRPA or ARRT (RRA). Experience Validation of participation in continuing education activities with a minimum of 50 hours of continuing education credits in each biannual period. Licenses and Certifications Maintenance of an active radiographer registration status. Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) skills. Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) skills. Certified by the CBRPA or considered eligible for the CBRPA certification examination. or Certified by the ARRT or considered eligible for the RRA certification examination. About Us.
