As a Localization Specialist, you will work on localization of different content types (e.g. product and marketing content) for our German speaking audience. In this role, you will be part of the Localization Chapter and partner closely with other members of the chapter and key stakeholders across the business to help transform English content into engaging stories in German. Apart from German language work, within this role you will also support agnostic quality operations for the successful scaling of Preply’s Localization quality governance. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING LANGUAGE WORK - Localize and review Preply content and brand messaging for our German speaking audience of consumer and business customers - Be responsible for successful and high-quality execution of all language and translation projects for the German-speaking markets - Apply transcreation and creative copywriting skills to adapt Preply's marketing and brand content for German-speaking markets, ensuring emotional resonance and cultural authenticity go hand-in-hand with linguistic accuracy - Maintain and document evolving German content requirements (consistent terminology, brand, tone of voice standards, and compliance) - Carry out ongoing quality assurance on the German version of the website, blog and email communications to ensure consistency and integrity of translation work and ensure all projects meet our brand guidelines - Use data analysis and research to identify and deliver improvements to the user experience for the German speaking markets - Work collaboratively with various internal stakeholders from the marketing, engineering, product and customer insights departments on initiatives for the DACH regions and on general localization initiatives - Build and maintain close working relationships with a select pool of freelance linguists, acting as their go-to guide on Preply's evolving brand and language standards for German to ensure high-quality, consistent output across all projects QUALITY OPERATIONS - Support the Quality work-stream activities - Analyze feedback and scorecards to drive quality improvements - Triage, investigate and resolve language bugs from stakeholder feedback LINGUISTIC ASSET MANAGEMENT - Support the creation of glossaries, style guides, and reference materials - Ensure consistent updates, version tracking, and brand alignment WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED - Native-level German, professional fluency in English (at least level C1) - Bachelor’s degree in translation, localization, intercultural communication, linguistics, or equivalent experience - At least 2 years of experience in the localization industry, ideally localizing content for web and mobile services - In-depth knowledge o ...
